Oh, please. The negativity from the Obama campaign since Palin was announced as the VP candidate has been overwhelming.
It isn't negativity, it's standing up for the truth and for our country.
McCain is the super negative candidate. Not only negative, but false. Of course the Obama campaign has to fight back! Wake up and see the Republican attack machine for what it is...
Not the way I see it.
They steadfastly avoided any comment on her children. If someone else did, that was not representative of the Obama / Biden group.
The Obama camp has criticized her on issues and decisions, and even preparedness. That's legitimate.
What I did see was a lot of Republican politicians playing Don Quixote (at the RNC) and tilting their lances at unnamed and unspecified parties who were "attacking" her. But these GOP politicians and talking heads never name these media sources or individuals. They keep everything in general terms so they can never be disproved or held to accountability. It's not unlike OJ Simpson's pursuit of "the real killers".
This is a smoke and mirrors game where you claim to be attacked in order to try to discourage legitimate scrutiny. Claiming to be a victim being anything is actually said.
You may disagree, and maybe you can find instances where she has been unfairly critiqued on things that were related to holding office - but were they actually from the Obama camp directly? I suspect you'll find it a challenge, that is unless critiquing your opponent in any way meets your definition of smearing.
I agree with the above comment. And I have never heard anything as derogatory or discriminating as Obamas' comment about the lipstick on the pig. If I had any indecision about who I was voting for - that would have made it crystal clear. I will not support a chauvinistic pig. (Opps, just a pun on his remark, you understand.)
McCain used the same comment in 2007 describe Hillary' Healthcare. Common Slang!!!!
McCain and Palin are shamelessly regurgitating the LIES scripted for Palin for the RNC by Bush's speechwriter Matthew Scullly. DOES THAT SOUND LIKE CHANGE? The "sex-education for kindergartners" ad is just ONE MORE example of GOP LIES, DECEIT and TREACHERY. DOES THAT SOUND LIKE CHANGE? Sounds like 4 more years of the same.
Bush/McCain + Here's the Real John McCain: http://therealmccain.com/videos.php
Obama/Biden: Change We Can Believe In
McCain just lost my vote! The latest attack on Obama was way out of line and taken completely out of context.
CBB:
Give me a break and start thinking for yourself! If you are educated, you will see that McCain said the EXACT same thing about Hillary. It is an expression! If it applies to her, maybe you should think again about who you are voting for. Wake up!!
Are you kidding me? I used to adore McCain, but I will rather vote for alfalfa before I vote for McCain. The reason why all this is bad for McCain is that he used be an honorable, honest man. Now, he is reminding people of George Bush and Karl Rove all over again. By what I'm seeing from friends and family, McCain will soon fall flat with Palin. People are not hearing about issues from them, rather they are hearing a "woman" attacking Obama everyday. It might be working around neocons, but it is turning others off. Watch their poll #s start to drop.
^MBS; be sure to make the distinction between what the campaign does and what the media or bloggers do. McCain's tactics come directly from the Karl Rove playbook, which McCain took offense to when leveled at his previous candidacy. The attacks from the Republican's "approved" ads are ripe with inaccuracy - including the recent ads regarding taxes.
Care to point out examples where the Obama campaign has undertaken similar strategies or, like the rest of the Republicans, are you going to use your own sound byte to shape the "truth?"
The GOP is using and spinning everything they can in every way they can, I don't know how they can sleep at night!
Now they are calling a program to make children aware of sexual predators "sex ed" for 1st graders...something to save kids, and the GOP distorts it into something evil/dirty.
Now that is sick.
By the way McCain used the analogy "lipstick on a Pig" in regards to Hillary Clinton...they are the A1 when it comes to nastiness and lies.
There really hasn't been a whole lot of negativity in either campaigns until Sarah Palin gave her speech last Tuesday at the republic convention. I watched the the democrats the week before not really knowing at that time who I was going to vote for! I was really looking forward to seeing what the republicans had to offer! But the whole republican convention was about John McCains service and the bashing of Obama. I didn't here how they were gonna change anything. This was very disappointing to me. Just because there is a women on that ticket doesn't mean I will automatically vote for her because I am a women. This country needs change and I don't see it from Sarah Palin or John McCain. They are both just flinging a lot of trash. This isn't helping any one. AND THE LIPSTICK THING SARAH STARTED THAT!!!
Obama may not be a racist but is surely a sexiest. His real colors are showing under pressure with his new comment on Lipstick.
Ask Obama about his position on Affirmative action. It's time America rewards its people for their actions and accomplishments and not their color. Stop the dumbing up of America.
I believe the AMERICAN Blacks from slavery should be on a registry for special conditions just like the American Indians.
If you keep feeding the animals in the wild eventually they do not feed themselves.
Laziness and entitlements are creating prejudice. The Democrats believe the few wealthy hard working successful should pay for the less willing. Unfortunately the less willing is becoming a majority. We need to drill Alaska...Saudi's are not are friends. World War III is an economic war. We do not need a popular opinion with Europe we need incentives to get our factories back home and get back to hard work and grass roots. We can stand tall and be proud. Why do people from all over the world want to come to America? Freedom and opportunity. If you want communism we could trade you for a hardworking Asian.
The pit bull in lipstick pulled the first punches. If you are going to swing punches don't go crying when you are punched back. This woman has been shielded from the press from answering hard questions about her record. I guess the reason they are shielding her is because her record and she are suspect. You can't go hiding behind daddy's knee...she needs to answer and stand up for herself instead of boo hooing when questioned.
Asking the necessary questions to determine if this woman is qualified for the job she is seeking is not negative or sexist. If this were true any woman who has been on a job interview would have grounds for a lawsuit. Give me a break. The straight talk express has become the straight jacket express. That's one ride I am unwilling to take!
OBAMA/Biden 2008
I'm outraged at McCain and Palin. These people claim to be christians and they lie , cheat and do anything to win. I wonder if they are praying about any of their behaviors because God see's all!
Obama's party has been heard talking down and making snide remarks about McCain for months now. Meanwhile, McCain never fired back. Everytime I turn on the news, some dem is making a crack about McCain and now Palin. It's been nonstop. I am glad to see McCain and Palin fight back. It's about time!
The comment was not directed at Palin. Listen to his speech!!!! Obama is the least likely candidate to attack someone on a personal level.
The truth is that the GOP sound like a bunch of pre-schoolers.
I can't wait for the debates.
I am always so surprised at how voters jump on these things by party line. You should all be ashamed of yourselves! The negativity has been on both sides of this campaign, because it has proven successful for the candidates to smear each other. Why? Because voters are ignorant of the facts and take sides on issues they truly do not understand. They buy in to the face value statements of the candidates because they are the party they support! In this election I will again be voting for the lessor of two evils. I do not like either candidate. Obama throw the race card up when ever he can, and now Palin is throwing up the gender card. I couldn't care less if the candidate was a man, a woman, black, white or purple. I would just like for someone to put the needs of this country ahead of their own desire for office.
What this country needs is less what is in it for me, and more what is in it for the country as a whole. No more entitlement, no more high taxes, no more socialism. It doesn't work. People need to wake up, this once great country is going downhill and we, the voters, are responsible.
I am an independent, but at this point I consider McCain and Palin two people who may be creating popularity for themselves but are really using poor judgement. Since republicans talk about family values, perhaps someone could tell me what "family" value did John McCain use when he dumped his former wife who waited tirelessly for him while he was in prison only to find out he could hardly wait and was carrying on with an heiress trust baby to further his career. Poor judgement. He then asked a woman to be his running mate, and the woman has a four month old DOWN SYNDROME child that she is nursing besides having an unwed teenage mother. She has 5 children, but apparently power comes before family in the party of "family values." One question only should be asked by both democrats and republicans. How many women do you know that would have a four month old down syndrome nursing child would apply to take a job that would and should take nearly all your time and could actually turn into the hardest job in the nation? Good judgement? They lost my vote.
Obama is a trouble maker through and through....pig with lipstick comment was over the top and unforgiveable. Check his shady background a little harder media. Stand up and report fairly instead of handing over the candidate of your choice to the people with the holy light in the background. SHAME ON YOU MSNBC FOR YOUR ONE SIDED SUPPORT OF A CANDIDATE, YOU REPORTERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED, THAT IS NOT WHY YOU WANTED TO BECOME A REPORTER IS IT? DO YOU NOT HAVE ANY INTEGRETITY AT ALL?
Supporters of OBAMA name 10 things/laws/bills (with specifics) that he has passed. Get him off of his high horse and away from his teleprompter and he is a stuttering basket case that flip-flops more than John Kerry ever had....
And to Christine....McCain is about as similiar to Bush as Obama is to the KKK....come on he is nothing like the Bush Presidency....check your facts and check the votes in the past senate and you will see that he actually disagreed with Bush more than you and the media care to admit, come on Christine...be original and come up with a better arguement or at least fact check and supply those facts with your arguement instead of sounding like another Obama puppet.
McCain supporters continue to blame the Obama Campaign for the negative responses tp Palin's nomination. I wonder if McCain supporters are listening to the media scrutiny and hearing what they want to hear..... an Obama attack. The thinking McCain supporter should be able to separate the sources and sort out the facts. Karl Rove knows better. Karl knows that repeating the story over and over gives the appearance of truth and leads those who wish to believe the story the opportunity to do so even if the story is wishful thinking. Like it or not, Lee Attwater (remember) and Karl Rove will be remembered as the most effective political strategists America has ever seen.
MMM
What do you expect the Obama campaign to do with the outright lies the McCain campaign is running on? I think Obama & his campaign have been more controlled & respectful than they should be, but that's the kind of man Obama is, the ISSUES are what's important! The nastiness & sarcasm at the RNC, the lies about Obama's stand on the issues, the fact that Palin is not allowed to be interviewed on the issues & where she stands on them. Why can't we hear from her in the exact same way all the other 3 candidates have been? Why does she get special treatment? Because she's a WOMAN? I find it insulting that a woman candidate is suppose to be shown "deference", she's no different than the male candidates, or she's not supposed to be. I have always been appalled at the kind of behavior the McCain campaign seems to favor. Also, why do people not want an Intelligent & Educated person to run this country, a man who put himself through Columbia, where he majored in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations & Harvard Law School, a man at the TOP of his class (not like McCain, 5th from the bottom), a man that RESPECTS his fellow Americans? How is he "Elite"? He doesn't come from money, no one paid for his education. He knows what my middle class life has been like, McCain has NO idea, after all if the middle class is anyone that makes $5M or less (McCain's belief) then I guess I'm living in poverty & just never realized it! If McCain & Palin get elected & we go through another 4 years like the last 8 I fear I may truly be living in poverty.
The hub bub over the brilliance of Palin as a VP choice only goes to demonstrate the vulnerability and gullibility of the American voter as seen through the eyes of the Republican marketers. I believe the debates will effectively show the gap in experience between Obama/ Biden and McCain/ Palin tickets. The Republicans have treated we patriotic Americans like inferiors for too long.
Last October, asked about Sen. Hillary Clinton's health care plan. McCain said Clinton's proposal was "eerily" similar to the ill-fated plan she devised in 1993. "I think they put some lipstick on a pig," he said, "but it's still a pig."
Ha Ha Ha....spoken like a TRUE Right Republican! Ridiculous.
McCAIN STANDS BACK AND WATCHES AS PALIN READS THE SPEECH GEORGE BUSH'S PEOPLE WROTE. CARL ROVE MUST BE SO HAPPY. HANNITY (THE GOOF) WILL DEFEND PALIN (WHO REALLY KNOWS HER?).
PALIN STATES SHE GAVE REBATES TO ALL ALASKANS (TRUE) BUT THESE REBATES HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO ALASKANS FOR YEARS AND YEARS (SHE WAS NOT THE FIRST TO DO THIS AS SHE AND McCAIN MAKE OUT).
I AM A CANADIAN BUT I THINK McCAIN IS TREATING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOW LIKE HE DID WITH HIS FIRST WIFE (HE WILL SAY WHAT HE HAS TO SAY TO GET ELECTED).
AS ONE OF YOUR OLD PRESIDENTS ONCE SAID " IN THE LAST 8 YEARS HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO GET HIT OVER THE HEAD BEFORE YOU REALIZE WHO IS HITTING YOU? McCAIN IS BUSH.
I SAY McCAIN IS FULL OF BUSH IT!
I don't feel they're being overly critical of Palin she is just grossly under qualified. Let's not defend her simply because she is a woman. She is a candidate for vice president. I think Obama is going too easy on her!
Instead of launching attacks at each other, make no mistake, both campaigns are guilty of negativity, they should try understanding that those of us under 60 cannot relate to a world dictated by party affiliation. Raised by Irish, democrats, catholics, yet I never have felt the need to play party politics. I vote in regard to the person and their inclinations, not their promises, no elected official has ever kept the majority of their promises. In this election, I would have voted Hillary as she is the best choice for president given her focus on equal opportunity for all, races, genders, orientations. Since that choice was taken away by the DNA, and as the person I admire for fortitude is McCain, I will vote on what I believe is likely to happen to the U.S. in the event of the presidency being taken by one or the other.
I will say that I believe that McCain is less beholden to the power of his party than McCain and seems to owe everyone for their unyielding support. He is also more likely to need the input of his majordomos to fill in the gaps of his lack of experience/knowlege of the total world picture. I'm not sure that he can educate himself enough in the areas I'm sure he knows he is lacking prior to taking office.
Problems with the McCain ticket is Sarah Palin, just because she's a woman isn't enough to overlook our differences. The choice by McCain shows he's thinking and acting well to secure his election to office. I have no problem with any of her beliefs, I don't agree with them but it's ok if she has her own opinion. It becomes an issue for me when/if those beliefs impact my choices. For one, it's ok if she believes in abstinence & isn't upset when her child ends up preggers. I would like to avoid all that drama and be proactive once I realize a child of mine is having sex. Also, I think about all the moms in bad situations, raising children in depressed inner city areas that aren't as well off as the Palin's and whose pregnant child would only add to their poor life situation. They need the schools to offer education and goods that they may not have the time and/or money to provide. It's slightly ironic that Sarah has no problem killing/hunting animals to which I object, but doesn't believe in birth control. Also, some women her age are finished with child bearing, would rather take birth control that chance bringing a child with difficulties into the world. Not all of us are as capable of doing a good job with a child with birth defects, perhaps not even have the means to minister to a special needs child.
So, both parties should stop being negative, and everyone should start paying attention to the important things, the USA is in bad shape and our next president will turn the tide, one way or the other. The media needs to stop with the useless polls and the dramas and start asking the hard
questions that may help us make up our minds.
The McCain campaign needs to focus on issues people truly care about not this mud slinging. It shows the have nothing better to say so all they do is attack their opponent. What they don't realize is it turns voters off. It is to the point where I don't even want to even hear Palin speak since she is either stretching the truth or speaking ill of someone. We need more talk from the republicans about the direction of our country and the real issues we care about. As my parents said - if you can't say anything nice don't say it all.
Be specific and truthful, if you can, when stating the Obama campaign's "negativity" about Mrs. Palin has been overwhelming because a person (Palin) that goes to the Town's Librarian to ask "How she could go about banning some books" should not be even be allowed to run for any office in this country.
If anything the Obama campaign has been too restrained by not placing Palin's e-mails asking angrily why her ex-brother-in-law had not been fired from the State Troopers yet.
The problem with Republicans is that they tend to have little interest in the good of the community, as a whole, as they are too self-involved thinking that some god gave them the right to use and abuse all other living creatures including those persons who do not share their so-called 'values' as they please.
What do you expect? Rove is behind all of these negative lies from the McCain campaign. More of the same. Why was it ok for McCain to use the "lipstick on a pig" comment when speaking about Hillary Clinton? McCain should s
tick to the issues that the American people need to hear about. McCain can't. After 26 years he's part of the problem.
McCain is to blind to see the truth. Palin come on everybody we know he wants the Hillary votes. She's no Hillary. Why hasn't Palin been interviewed by anyone yet, haven't they coached her well enough yet. Come on State politics and World Politics. Big difference.
It is a smear of epic proportions from the Republicans and John McCain. It is going to get worst since the "Great Carl Rove " is now on the payroll for McCain. Eight years is enough and Palin will have to explain her actions as Gov. of Alaska before long. God save this Country from the political nightmare we are about to endure. Obama must fight this thing head-on or we will have another SWIFT BOAT situation.
The GOP are a bunch of fear-mongers. They are political terrorists that sell their propaganda through fear. I'm not saying the DFL are a bunch of saints, but its clear to me who speaks of hope and faith in America and who wants you to fear everything about peace and justice.
I agree with you 100%. All this back and forth between candidates is ridiculous. How wonder other countries are laughing at us. There is to much emphasis on gender and Race in this election. We Americans need to listen to the issues and stop listening to all the other "fluff" that has nothing to do with health care, this economy, job loss, gas prices, and education. Sarah being a women and Obama being black is not going to solve these issues that affect everyone of us black, white, man or women. The bottom line is what president is going to fix this mess that Bush has created.
I was a Hillary Clinton supporter because I've seen what her and Bill did for this country but since electing her president is no longer an option I'm going for the next best and that's Obama. Obama who Hillary and Bill support. McCain and Palin are playing games and going around the issues and making up stuff so they don't have to answer questions that show what kind of leaders they will be. I'm sorry but I refuse to let those 2 idiots McCain and Palin put a blindfold over my eyes with there lies. I can't believe people are really falling for this McCain picking Sarah For Vice President. He only picked her to have a chance at winning and people are really falling for it. LOL. Please America WAKE UP and take the blindfold off.
I totally agree, the McCain and Palin team are being maligned by Obama with lies.
The McCain campaign went south and negative as soon as he hired the Karl Rove smear men like Steve Schmidt. They're the type that smeared McCain in South Carolina when he was running against George Bush in 2000 and smeared Sen. Kerry later that year. It's so sad to see a fundamentally decent man like McCain stoop to doing or saying anything to be president. Like they say about trial lawyers, if you don't have the facts or a defense, attack the facts.
When one knows the truth about Palin from her own quotes and other sources, one can see why the McCain camp keeps preaching negatism. McCain goofed and noow he is trying to blame it all on Obama.
You want to hand this country over to the hands of someone more interested in celebrity status with no political experience than to someone who can lead this country through difficult times. Get off the George Bush the 3rd term. McCain is not another George Bush, far from it. Do your homework!
Palin is hurting womens rights, she needs to act like a equal to the men. She can make comments and jokes relating to women, but no one else is allowed too.
It has only increased because he is defending himself. What issues have you really heard McCain discuss and have a plan for. McCain and Palin is only trying to distract the public from making a informed decision. Let's talk about the facts. I feel Obama has no other choice but to defend himself; so many lies have been told and comments taken out of context, if he doesn't set the record right now he is going to lose the election.
What is best for our country right now is to think about what you need and want out of life and really do research on these candidates. McCain/Palin won't be another 8 years of Bush, actually, its going to be worst.
OBAMA 08 & 12
CHANGE. YES WE CAN.
I have noticed the media playing over and over lies and when things have been proven lies they dont always play the proven. I am sick of the lies and sick of the back stabbing. And I feel the media is the LARGER and they lean with Obama with their lies.
Which is exactly what the McCain camp intended. They studied the angry Hillary supporters and picked someone who could stir them up, real or imagined. It's what they do.
The news media is determined to get Senator Obama elected one way or the other. Neither Pelin or Obama have enough experience to run our nation. Both MC Cain and Obama are just following party line and beliefs.
HAH! thats hilarious.... the Obama campaign has stated the documented backed up historical truth time and again, it just happens to be that the Truth is opposed to the McCain campaign.
In fact, MCCain has been launching dirty character attacks on Obama and frauds for months, even before Hillary dropped out.... all the while Obama has maintained maturity instead of hte bogus fraud that is the Karl Rove McCain campaign.
Sarah Palin has lied about everything she said she has fought against: the "bridge to nowhere", leaving her city 27 million in debt; against lobbyists ( she hired one for Wasilla); never acceepting "pork" when she accepted plenty for recreation centers, etc in her hometown. I live in a town of 7000 people with a part-time mayor. I do know what kind of executive experience that qualifies you for and what part time mayors are responsible for.
I and many others have abundant more respect for the world and its' creatures than to shoot wolves and bears from airplanes, or, to declare that global warming is fiction and Polar Bears are not at risk of extinction.
Her decisions about her body and family are fine for her if that is her choice. They are not fine for me so keep your policies off my body. I am not hockey mom nor do I care to shoot and kill. That's my choice and I'm very proud that I have that choice.
I am really disgusted with the hippocracy of the Republicans..they who pride themselves as so honarable..give me a break! they wouldn't know honor if it jumped up and bit them on the rear! John MCCain talks about his days as a POW and how he suffered I just want to let him know that he's not the only POW to suffer, at least he has several homes he can choose to spend time in at any time.
There are many veteran's living on the streets with no place to live and no food to eat, yet his voting record shows him constantly voting against bills to help the veterans. If serving your country automatically qualifies you to be president, then that includes most of the homeless veterans on the street..come to think of it they probably have more integrity than MCCain!
MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves touting up this story of the pig with lipstick, I always thought them to be a little more responsible than that! I noticed they don't spend much time critizing the lie that the MCCain campaign put out on Obama voting for sex education for small children! It looks lie MSNBC are ALL republicans and have joined the Republicans in the smear & lies revolution.
Thank God for Keith Olberman & Rachel Maddow they seem to be the only ones left @ MSNBC with any integrity.....be careful MSNBC you are dangerously close to becoming another Fox News!! By the way Sara Palin is Dick Cheney--with lipstick!
Obama 08!
Are you serious!! The negative talk started the day Palin was announced.
Absolute nonsense MBS-339580. I've heard nothing but misleading negative attacks, lies, obfuscation and faux indignation from the McCain camp since Palin was nominated.
Despite now claiming to be the party of "change", they have said absolutely NOTHING about how they differ from the Republican policies of the last 8 years. They are feeding this media frenzy for conflict because it distracts the public from their redundant policies.
the pit bull is McCain's ticket to the White House if they win.Watch them, she says the same old, same old, same old and he stands with a smile on his face like he won already. It's like watching one of those old movies with the the traveling salesmen or circus.
This is why they want Sarah away from the news media because she could cost him the race
Their tough, their going to shake up Washington, hahaa. How can they shake up Washington when they cry about what is said about the other Party?
When ones are in a race there is no sex period!
Get over it. McSilly has been disparaging Obama since the beginning. Even Missy is repeating the same lies on the campaign trail. If she is a reformer, why hasn't she questioned the things she's told to say.
Palin cought on video opening the Alaskan Independant Party convention. She claims not to support their causes and yet video shows different.
go to :
find out where her loyalties to the United States fall.
The first stop of McCain / Palin after the convention was in my little town, Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Interestingly, Obama informed his county headquarters that he did not want disrespectful behavior, and advised against demonstrating of any kind. When the press corps bus unloaded the very Republican crowd boo'd them. Why? Republicans have tried to abort press inquiries at the onset, intimidating to press into not asking legitimate questions about this previously unknown candidate. This doesn't make sense if we are to make an informed decision. In my opinion, Palin's family is off-limits. Her record and views and policies are most definately within bounds. In Cedarburg, other than the regurgitated acceptance speech, only TV film (no sound) and photographers were allowed access to Palin--no interviews, no reporters allowed close enough to hear her responses to individual questions. I believe Obama has performed respectufully toward Palin and McCain. I believe the press is being intimidated.
Are you kidding me? Do you need to watch Palin's speech again? It was all put downs and slams, nothing about the American People. I honestly don't blame McCain for all this, I blame Palin.
She dished it, and now she's got to eat it.
Palin cought on video addressing the Alaskan Independance Party who wants to become an independant country. Go to youtube and type in "Palin aip" and watch her video opening the AIP meeting and saying she supports their cause.
Whe is the true American here?
Don't confuse bloggers and supporters with the campaign, itself. The truth is that Obama has treated Palin's lack of qualifications with great delicacy. He is not running flat-out lie ads to take the focus off the issues. That's what Karl Rove is doing on McCain's behalf.
Aw, BooHoo. Sarah's going to take her unanswered questions and go home.
Wow, what a barracuda. Is this how she takes on the Big Boys?
Totally right that ever since someone who is NOT an "insider" to Washington and is a smart, intelligent woman. Obama has had and is having a field day and, is worried about his poling numbers since she came on the scene. He is the one who has never fought for us - keeps flip-flopping his mind on things just to be "in" with what's going on at that moment. In Congress or on the Campaign trail.
I for one do not want the Socialized health care he is offering as, it is just like what Canada and Europe have. And, why do you think the Canadians are always down here for surgeries ?? Because THEY know their health care is HORRIBLE and, they want better doctors and such than they have at home. I also lived in Canada and know for a fact it is totally not what we need nor want. You wait forever to be seen - you do not have your own Doctor. TO get to see a Specialist - Oh man take a number and hope you do not die in the process of waiting for your appointment.
And he also wants to raise our taxes on everything and aren't they HIGH enough already. Also he slyly is trying to take MORE freedoms from us and tells us what we are and are not going to have. And what he WON'T tell you is how much things will be higher - You think they are now - just wait IF he get's in. They will be astronomically higher !!
I agree - we DO need a fresh face in the White House - NOT someone who is going to take away our right to the BEST health care out there and tax us to death and flip-flop on important decisions as he has in the past. And the rest of the stuff he has conveniently not replied to when asked direct questions from ANY news source out there. He ducks, dives and totally evades anything he doesn't want to TRULY reply to. One because he doesn't know what he'll do and the other is he thinks we'll just follow along with his proven glib, empty replies and be satisfied with it.
Are we a nation that is going to go down in history being lead by someone like this ?? Be satisfied with someone who does not know how to give STRAIGHT, HONEST answers to this nation. And it's peoples daily struggles and problems ????? I For One Hope Not !
What we need is someone with a PROVEN track record AND years of experience behind him. Not someone who is all about him even though he says otherwise. Just look at the "me party" he had at the DNC in Colorado. All show and no go is how I saw that one - anyone else feel the same ?! And someone who'll have the background to know what to do IF that three a.m. phone should ring. For if we should ever have any type of catastrophe again of any magnitude.
Any "negativity" you perceive is coming from anywhere BUT the Obama campaign, which has remained on the high road and stuck to the issues. I'm getting really sick of the dishonesty and stupidity of the McCain campaign.
Gee, you obviously missed the very first National speech at the Republican Convention in which Sarah Palin slammed Barak Obama. Perhaps you might recall the comment in which Palin remarked about Obama "parting the seas" and NUMEROUS other rude and condescending comments. She started the fight and I hope that Barak Obama nails her nasty butt. Oh no, The "Maverick", I mean the "Pit bull" is being picked on. Yeah, what a pit bull. I live in Arizona, and John McCain is no friend to working people. You should try looking up his voting record. He should be ashamed.
Obama has remained too quiet in this race and now when he does say something all of a sudden he becomes a sexist, racist or an elitist. Obama has stuck to the issues whereas all John McCain has done is talk negatively about Obama the most he has ever spoke about the issues in this election is when he talks about war, which also seems to be the only issue he knows. As for Palin she only has her one story about the bridge to nowhere which has been disputed continuously since she keeps on talking about it. Its about they find another speech for her at least if Obama only has empty words they don't be the same ones over and over again. I can almost cite her campaign speech by heart before she even says it. Add this along with the unfairness and absolutely negative campaigning against Obama by John McCain its no wonder Obama finally cried enough is enough.
Not necessarily, if you recall or listened correctly, Obama praised McCains selection. But when Palin came on board, she actually took on the role that the media placed her as, shall I say, the attack dog. So in the process of stirring up things for McCain, she actually created that environment
You want to see an attack, what about that ridiculous Sex-Ed ad that is a DIRECT attack. It is despicable and nothing but pure malicious lies. You should be up-in-arms over that! Not this made up controversy to take away from the real issues.
That is so untrue. If you think that Sarah Palin is capable and ready to be president when the old fart can't get real. NO WAY NO CHANGE WITH MCCAIN
YOU GUYS ARE IDOITS!!!! if you thing that Mc Cain is not negative, He is the king of Negativity, besides Obama was just telling it like it is!!!!!
I'm an Independent. Still deciding.
I saw Obama's speech "lipstick on a pig" he had just before made reference to Palin's lipstick comment and parsed after his comment-playing to the crowd. The crowd loved it, laughed, even stood and applauded. Yes he was talking about McCain's positions but he and everyone knew he was taking a shot... it was funny, but poor taste-bad judgement.
But worse is the media coverage: sensationalism instead of journalism.
I'm a big boy, give me the facts not you bias takes-you dishonor yourselves, the candidates, and the importance of what's going on-and take advantage ,obviously, of an uninformed, immature electorate.
Gary,
McCain used to be much more distinguishable from George Bush. His former stances on a lot of issues went against the Republican mainstream. However, between then and now, he has flipped his stance on many substantial issues. Now he is much more mainstream Republican. I believe he has done so for political expediency. What is to say if he were elected he wouldn't change his stance on these issues once again, and go back to the original. I for one don't want to take that chance. Therefore, I cannot, in all good conscience, vote for McCain.
"since Palin was announced"... thats funny, cause most all the media (including Faux Noise) stated the opposite... that the Obama camp was staying clear of Palin.
Funny how once again, McBush supporters twist the truth... if not just lie about it.
Why doesn't McBush focus on the ISSUES... health, economy, etc... probably because as the last 2 elections... the far right has resorted to FEAR & SMEARING, as they will loose if our real issues are raised!
The Obama campaign has never smeared Palin; those smears are from internet trolls and weirdos. You can't name a single smear that's even been repeated on the mainstream news. Why? Because the only ones you've seen have been online, that's why.
Any statement that refutes a candidate's qualifications or platform can be termed "negativity." Therefore both candidates are required to engage in negativity - as it supports their side of the debate of real issues such as energy, economy and foreign policy.
Negative personal attacks, however, including tattle-tale style "oooh - did you hear what he said, teacher" nonsense is largely the specialty of the Republican party. Obama's every attempt to rise above these tactics is outshouted by media-fed rumors. Does anyone remember Obama's response to attacks on Palin's mothering skills? "People's families should be off limits."
I for one am proud to finally see a candidate who refuses to get down in the sty (yes, I said "sty") with those who would discredit the intelligence of the American people by creating smokescreens to the real issues at hand. Please, let's show the world we cannot be so easily fooled.
Not only has John McCain been consistently negative towards Barak Obama (and long before the RNC began or Governor Palin was selected as his running mate), but out of desperation he has chosen to steal the "change" element of the Obama campaign and claim it as his own. It's been years since McCain has been the maverick he insists he is, it's been generations since he's been the hero he undoubtedly was, but he has no shame and he has no pride in dredging up ancient history to get elected. "Change is coming, change is coming," he shouts, with not a clue or any explanation of what that change might be! And all the while he beams like a proud papa as Sarah Palin continues to brag about putting the plane on eBay and firing the chef over her children's objections! Incidentally, Sarah needs new material because we now know the plane did not sell on eBay and the chef is still cooking! It's a pathetic circus, and if the people in this country buy it, it could well be a disaster for all of us. We need to right ourselves and start getting on track. And we better start listening to someone who actually has a vision and a message.
As a working women with senior experience beyond the 40-something Sarah Palin, what she represents from my point of view is why older women supported Hillary in the first place. The workplace discrimination against women at the top of the food chain, gappers 55-65 yrs is the real women's economic emergency yet to be addressed. See poverty statistics and understand that we are women and children here at the bottom.
More importantly, we are the good girls who hung in there, delivered quality work, took the hits, thinking we might finally reach a fair wage the last 10 yrs of our careers at the least, like our dads. Today, more than you can imagine, so many moms- high achievers, stellar credentials, great people- have been insulted by being downsized to PT, wages that are so low it's amazing, pensions and health benefits out of reach, access to full-time work impossible. Any women considering a vote for any Republican needs to find a wellness group or a licensed counselor, learn to free yourselves from the Republican fantasy you are trapped in.
I don't see how any McCain supporter could think that the comment Obama has made "lipstick on a pig" is sexist.McCain used this term himself on TV in an INTERVIEW!!!!I mean c'mon people...for anyone to think that these campaign strategies will work or should work, in my opinion is just air headed.I support Obama and it's nothing personal with McCain i really couldn't care about the man but i just don't agree with his policies and strategies of winning the ticket to the White House. You can clearly see out of the two who's a little more mature on how to campaign and not try to fool the American people with lies and false accusations. As far as Palin is concerned....i don't really like the woman. Its because i don't know jack about her..yea she goes hunting in her home state, yea she has five kids and a grandchild on the way, she doesn't believe in abortion but damn...what else does the public know about her.NOTHING!!!And what pisses me off the most is how the Hillary supporters wanna switch sides and support Palin when in my opinion...she is NOTHING like Hillary, simple as that.Just because she's a woman you're willing to put just anybody into office. As far as the press goes....Obama has been under the microscope for a long time now and McCain always seemed to be ignored a lot of times. The whole thing about Reverend Wright or whatever his name is...was talked about for WEEKS.What about that other guy McCain was close to and made remarks in which McCain too seemed to distant himself from. That was only talked about for a week..tops!If a politician has to go out and lie to the American people and the rest of the world in order to win the presidency...that's not better than BUSH lying about the war and its details.Go watch FRONTLINE's "BUSH'S WAR" and you'll know what I'm talking about.WAKE UP PEOPLE....WE HAVE THE POWER NOT OBAMA OR McCAIN.We control who's our next president and if our next president does a lousy job like our last/current did...that is all on us and i think we should think about who's better in listening to our problems and working on getting the job DONE...and done RIGHT!
ps. DONT USE GOD'S NAME IN THESE ELECTIONS IF U CAN'T EVEN ACT LIKE A CHRISTIAN AND BE HONEST.I DON'T SEE HOW GOD COULD EVER AGREE WITH WAR!
pss.Only McCain would use "DADDY YANKEE" as a scapegoat to win the Hispanic votes
Why is it that no one can say anything about Sara Palin? What is she that no one can say anything about her. To be in politics, you have to have tough skin, evidently her skin is not so tough. If you can'yt take the heat...Get back in the kitchen!!!
When McCain starts treating veterans with the respect they deserve MAYBE I'll look at him. Respect is more than putting them on the television screens, touting his military experience and saying he appreciates them. It means being concerned about their issues by voting for an increase in care for them or heck - better yet - JUST show up!
Obama may not have been in the military - but he does support their issues. Even in the midst of a campaign to secure the nomination he showed up to vote - while McCain who had already locked up the Republican nomination -- didn't bother to show up.
Where have you been! The Dems and the Obama Campaign and Barack himself praised Palin after her big debute speach at the convention. And she, Palin has been nothing but a "snot". Personally, I do not think that the Dems and Obama Camp have been hard enough on her. She, Palin should not be given a free pass! She claims to be a Maverick, so get out there in the trench and answer some questions. Personally, I do not think Palin can qualify to be in the same room with Hillary Clinton!
I agree Christine! McCain has chosen a candidate based on gender alone rather than qualifications. I fear for our country if the Republican Party wins this election. There is a reason that Palin is not allowed to give interviews at this point and that she is only allowed to read speeches from tele-prompters. I guess they slipped because I heard a few gems that came out when Palin was not censored. According to NBC, Palin stated that we need to "pray" for gays to become straight. Another one of her keen world views is that "God" wanted the war in Iraq. I pray that the candidates who are going to run our country are selected based on their intelligence, experience, policies, and plans rather than gender or skin color.
the media is asking the questions, not Obama......and the repubs won't let Palin do anything but repeat the same canned dogfood. Let the lady talk, everyone can then decide-------oh yeah, that is what worries the repubs------exposure!
I am not a Democrat nor a Republican, but I am a undicided voter and it really bothers me to know that the media is even focusing their energy on the whole "lipstick" situation. The Republicans should really quit using hipocracy to try and win elections. . First of all McCain said the exact same thing about Hillary Clinton's healthcare plan, but you didn't hear any Democrats saying that was a sexist statement. The media needs to use their energy toward focusing on the real issues, such as healthcare, education, and tax cuts. The media has the power to demand that these issues are explained by both parties. Also, why isn't the media demanding for Sarah Palin to come out and show her face? I would love to hear her views about the real issues. So can you tell me why is the McCain campaign still hiding her. I don't see Joe Biden hiding, he's everywhere!
With that being said, I will probably be voting for Obama. His campaign seems to be focusing more on the real issues and not so much on the cynical ones.
The republicans fooled us once and fooled us again . I am praying that Obama is the next president as he would bring back some digintiy to this nation. After seeing Obama speaking to my sister who is mentally challenged at a rally during the primary and answering her questions with sincerity compassion and genuine interest he won my vote. I am sick and tired of the oil companies and those affliated with them lining their pockets and blasting those that would help those that really need the help. I know that Sen Obama would help our schools become the learning facilites we need , that all would have access to health care and go after Bin Laden as would should have till we got the ones who attacked us. Please vote for Obama/ Biden.
And what negativity is that? The American people have every right to information about the vice presidential candidate who could become the president. I am a woman and believe in equal treatment. Why isn't Palin on Meet the Press? Why isn't she being interviewed? What are they afraid of? What are they trying to hide? The McCain campaign says they will not let the media drive how they make Palin available for interviews. The media is the means voters use to get their information. So, in other words, McCain is telling me, the voter, that they will not respond to my desire for information so I can be an informed voter. Back to the negativity----discussing someone's experience and record is NOT negativity. Obama is on record about bringing candidate's families into the fray--he says they are off limits. So again I ask, what negativity is that?
you're so republican what about the real issues? Who is more honest on torture, lobbyist, the economy privacy?
just because McCain is an officer doesn't mean he is honest or a gentlemen....... Its say one thing and do another maybe Fannie Mae is helping Ms. Bud buy another house?
This is a complete joke! Actually, it WOULD be a joke if it weren't so sad. Obama said nothing offensive regarding Palin. You people who are LOOKING for negative things need to put down the crack pipes and pay attention to the issues! The ONLY reason the McCain campaign is focusing on this is because they don't want the press or the public to focus on the things that are truely important! Palin has been playing her 'broken record' speech at EVERY SINGLE CAMPAIGN STOP she's been do since last Thursday! She's pitiful, really! Dollar for dollar, issue for issue, Obama's plans beat McCains hands down! McCain said these exact same remarks about pig/lipstick twice in the last few months! Where was your outrage then?!?!?!? Get a grip, people!
People, please READ the phrase in question and know what you are talking about. It has nothing to do with women, and it is not sexist. Look it up on Google or in the dictionary if you don't believe me. The phrase "like lipstick on a pig" has to do with dressing up a pig (literally) in makeup, as a way of trying to hide something bad or ugly with a new coat of paint. Obama was referring to McCain and the Republicans failed policies, not Sarah Palin or womanhood or anything having to do with the feminine. Please don't continue to show your ignorance by taking umbrage at something you can't even define properly.
the reason they (McCain and company) are starting up the smear campaign is because they don't want Palin talking to the press and if they can keep everyone side track away from the issues then Palin is safe. Like the bridge to nowhere and we are finding out she love the pork barrow money like someone already said the smoking mirrors keep everyone away from the truth and the republicans are good at that if not look at their record for the last 8 years even though the Dem's have the house of reps and 50/50 in the senate because of mr Joe Lieberman McCains side kick who both voted 90% of the time with Bush and now Bush blocks anything the Dem's try to do in Washington get the facts people before you vote who is on the ups and ups and its not the McCain side!
Dear MBS339580 or whatever your handle is - The negativity started with Sarah. Here speech was derogatory and her delivery sneering and disrespectful. No that she's getting some in return it's sexist???? Give me a break! The little cupcake and the republicans are fearful of having her actually answer questions to common people & the media that they've created this sham about her being attacked to use as a defense for their actions. I hope all voters are more intelligent than McCain and Rove give us credit for! I choose to vote for a man with respect for other human beings, integrity, class, hope, action, compassion and the intelligence to stay above the gutter politics being thrown at him. Republicans should be ashamed and abandoning this ugly crusade in droves!!
Give me a break! Obama came out and said that Palins children were off limit and anyone in his campaign that used that as a political issue would be fired!!!! I am sick and tired of you republicans trying to lie and accuse him of these ridiculous things. The republicans have nothing but smears and lies to try and win this campaign and it amazes me that anyone falls for it. It just proves that people don't vote based on truth and issues.
McCain is scared! Why is he hiding Palin who states she is a pit bull with lipstick? By that statement she should be able to answer 1 question from the media?
The american people will be looked at as stupid if he is elected! The lies are out there for every one to research!
Go Obama!!!!!!!!!
Ms. Palin put herself out there willingly - if she can't take the heat, then she should get out of the kitchen. Democrats have rightly criticized her credibility, and considering that she has perpetuated the whole "I told Congress 'thanks, but no thanks'" lie every day, then clearly they are right to do so. It's not the only lie she's told, or kept telling.
If you decide to send out an attack dog, male or female, then be prepared to accept the consequences when the prey decides not to just sit and wait for the attack. Obama is no John Kerry, and the American electorate has clearly had enough of Karl Rove-style politics.
This entire campaign has been about the Republicans distracting and diverting focus from the real issues and trying to make the election about personalities. This is typical of a team with nothing useful to contribute to a genuine discussion of the issues.
"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. " - Russian proverb.
They are not being negative. They are doing the vetting that should have been done by the McCain camp.
Please tell me some examples of Obama's negative campaign in comparison to McCain's
And she started it and brought it on with her attacks because they didn't have anything of substance to talk about. So if she dish it out she should be able to take it as well. Where were the issues at the war convention??? And Yes I did watch the RNC and it was a war convention, nothing more and nothing less.
Ha!!! Right... Obama can't even make a simple comment commonly used by all politicians, including McCain, (who said he same thing about Hilary Clinton's policies in the past), without it being blown out of proportion. The claim McCain's camp is making is ludicrously hypocritical, just like most of their claims. Either for themselves or against Obama. If you don't open your eyes quick, you're going to do the same thing you did in both Bush elections: slam the opposition and complain how bad things are for the next 4 to 8 years. Wake up!
When Obama had the chance to attack palins so called "family values" when she announced her teen pregnancy, and he did not even address that issue in any negative way against her. McCant/Palin have been critisizing Obama for not having any experience but I have not heard Palin talk to the media to explain her stance on issues and how she will confront them or even to take questions. She hasnt even spoken to the media wo McCant to discuss those issues. She is the only vp candidate ever to take this long after the convention to talk to the media. Why? Because the Republicans are feeding her everything she needs to know for when the media asks her questions on Foreign policy. They have been sitting there checking on her just to make sure she doing ok. And she is critisizing Obama/Biden? Come on she is a joke. If she was passionate about reform from day 1 she would have came out to explain her stance on that instead of attacking the Dems!!
You just don't get it...but don't worry, unlike in a McCain Presidency (where we would all be persecuted and face retribution for disloyalty) Obama won't condemn you once he is President. You may need to apologize to the rest of us who may not be as forgiving as he will be, but you can rest assured that President Obama will continue to maintain the grace, dignity and honor (character traits that John McCain does not possess now and may never have in the past) that he has shown throughout his campaign.
Dropping the M from your identity would explain my opinion of your response, simply BS. Lest we forget McCain before Palin and just what specifically has Obama said about Palin (spare me the "lipstick on a pig comment, since rational thinking people know the phrase was used to describe McCain's plans for this country, and was used by McCain and other candidates earlier).
Simply because candidates supporters may say inappropriate things about Palin does not mean that the candidates themselves have said it. If you want to use that type of logic, McCain supporters and campaign are WAY OUT IN FRONT OF OBAMA ON THAT FRONT.
This is no longer the McCain campaign for President, but the Palin campaign for Vice President. Scary to think that McCain is riding her coat tails, he needs to get a back bone. Let's get back to the real issues in this election and stop sugar coating the true of the McBush ticket.
I wish he would SLAM Palin and expose every lie she tells . This woman is beyond unprepared to be the vice president. Every time I think about the possibility of the McCain/Palin duo taking office I feel shame for our country.
Oh please, indeed.
Clearly, negativity has been the favored weapon of the McCain camp for several months now (starting in earnest with that "celebrity" spot). The "Rovian" campaign ads approved by McCain have been nothing more than smears, the claims in several of them demonstrably untrue (that makes them lies, folks), and one of the most recent ones (involving sex education) was well and truly repulsive. It went far beyond anything the Obama camp has ever said or implied (real or imagined), not only in the general election but in the primary as well. As far as I'm concerned, it was the lowest point of this election cycle to date.
You can expect that sort of thing from a 527, but from an actual candidate's campaign? Particularly one who promised a clean race and who knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of such repugnant attacks?
It's absolutely shameful. A complete disgrace. And not only a disgrace for the campaign, but a disgrace for the entire political process. McCain doesn't just shame himself with such a perverse display, he shames us all, and we, the voters, deserve better than that.
Now, you can say that this isn't as bad as it could get, and that worse things have been done and said in past elections. You can claim that this is just the way politics are, that smear tactics work, and so on... but, I'm sorry, that doesn't justify the conduct to me, and it doesn't mean we just have to accept this kind of nonsense. Frankly, I'm sick of it. Real sick and tired of it.
And, y'know what? I'm apparently not the only one. This type of thing backfired on Romney in Iowa (when McCain, who criticized Romney for his tactics, was one of the targets). It then backfired on Clinton (her "kitchen sink" strategy did more damage to her approval numbers than it did to Obama's). I can only hope it's now going to backfire on McCain as well, that smear tactics, this time around, won't fly with voters.
I've lost all respect for John McCain due to him dragging this election down into the gutter with these stunts, and that's sad, because I used to like the guy. But apparently he'd rather lose his integrity than lose an election.
And before anyone writes me off as "just another Liberal"... guess what. I'm not. I'm one of those Independent voters that both sides are allegedly clamoring for. So you can put away the tired partisan retorts. They don't apply.
Thanks for reading.
SHE'S TOTALLY ENEPT AT EVEN HER JOB IN ALASKA - SHE COULD NEVER HANDLE DC!!!
I'D WORRY IF I WERE YOU!
Obama has yet to answer any of the tough questions. Palin was immediately investigated down to the nth degree.
I have YET to hear anyone in the media ask Obama:
1. How can we believe that you do not subsribe to Rev. Wright, despite the fact you went to that church for 20+ years?
2. What is your relationship with Bill Ayers?
3. Describe your house purchase and the link to Tony Rezco........
4. Father (term used loosely) Flagler. Uuuum, yea..
5. Michelle Obama, why the "for the first time I'm proud of my country"?
Please, Obama is sheltered by the ENTIRE media.
Also, in Obama's own book, he writes about being a failure as a community organizer, and using drugs.
Boy, aside from his flimsy resume, he sounds pretty crummy. Sad thing is, Dems know that Hillary exposed him, but it was too late.
McCain and Palin have opened themselves up for criticizm because they keep stretching the truth and misrepresenting the facts. At least they are not being called terrorists or unpatriotic or of strange origins.....
McCain is trying to distract the country with lies and lipstick. He is putting out horribly false ads and statements. We need someone new, with no relation to G.W. Bush. When the Republican attack machine gets going they fall back on religion and national disasters, (9-11), to SCARE people. I have not 1 time heard McCain talk about what he is going to do to help us get back on track. How can you steal the "Change", when you voted over 90% for George Bush's policies? Vote Obama/Biden for the sake of our children.
uhh, then apparently you did not listen to the convention, or better yet genuis try going to John McCain's website where he lays out all his plans in detail. Research and you would find these things because the media sure the hell isn't going to show his plans. ANd if he was such a bad candidate why is Obama adapting McCain's education plan?
Brandy-
I did listen to both the DNC and the RNC in it's entirety. I never heard anything about education from McCain. If he did mention it, I guess I didn't hear it through the laughing, joking, and dirty lies.
I guess I didn't see the joke, since the RNC has had control over the country for the last 8 years. They act like they have not been at the controls over these last 2 terms. Wake up, get the stick out and look at Obama's education plan, economic plan, etc. At least Obama has not voted over 90% of the time with Bush, unlike your OLD candidate.
Brandy,
uhh, apparently you did not listen to the convention either, because McCain did not go into any specific details of his plan... nor did Obama at his convention.
McCaine barley even touched on domestic policy because he was so busy talking about war and terrorism, at least Obama acknowledged that we have problems here at home.
HMMM, COULD HAVE SWORN THAT IT WAS ALMIGHTY OBAMA HIMSELF THAT STATED THAT HE LIKED MCCAIN'S EDUCATION IDEAS AND WAS ADOPTING THAT POLICY....GET THE STICK OUT...OH, COME ON CHRISTINE.....THAT WAS A LITTLE HARSH NOW WASN'T IT FOR SOMEONE CRITIZING MCCAIN FOR BEING TOO NEGATIVE AND NOW YOU ARE TELLING ME TO GET THE STICK OUT? HMMMM, POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK ISN'T IT?
brandy,
why does mccain adapting his timeline for iraq? oh please he is not taking mccain educatin plan, get real facts
What about our Boarders? How much drugs are passing from Mexico to give our children and grandchildren.Nothing is said about this.
I'm tired of McCain and his pet that everytime they do something it's turn around with them crying like a bunch of babies. Is this the type or need for one that runs our Country????
No way,No how,No McCain/Palin
Christine-513111, Mc Cain did talk about education. But you were probably asleep by then. LOL By his own admission he doesn't give speeches well. :) But you don't run a country on speeches thank goodness. Anyway, he's for choices such as Charter schools, vouchers etc and holding teachers accountable. You can probably check it on his website. I think the best sites are the ones where they compare. google Obama McCain compare issues
Independent Rock- If you really believe that, I feel sorry for you. Actually, I stayed up through the whole thing believe it or not. It was hard not to fall asleep with OLD McCain up there. You insult me when you say to google the issues. I pride myself to be on top of the issues, for the sake of my children. Like I said, he may have talked about education, but through all the mocking and laughing, quite truthfully I felt sick. This is not a joke, what the Republicans have done to OUR country is sickening. You can't run a country on speeches, but you need a personality to be able to work with people. McCain has a temper and he has allowed lies and insults to fly from his campaign. I forgot, we are just a nation of whiners. I have to vote for a candidate who originally voted against this war. We should not have gone in to Iraq in the first place, and Obama knew that, McCain voted with Bush, again.
Even the liberal media is helping to elect McSame. They are playing aces right into his hand. He puts out lying, distractions and the media just picks them up and replays them, over and over. Exactly what McSame wants them to do. Then they report that McSame is gaining in the polls, DUH. Spread the lies and BTW, it free air time. The very same media that hates what Bush has done to America and is constantly complaining is helping to elect four more years of what they are complaining about. Porky prig Rove is certainly earning his salary (again).
Whenever the right-wing agenda comes under scrutiny in the press, and is found wanting, as it often is, the conservatives blame the "liberal media," which does not exist and has not existed as far back as I can recall. It's just a convenient excuse, one among many, for avoiding responsibility.
Anyone who actually believes there's a "liberal" media needs just go back a few years and recall how the MSM pilloried first Bill, then Hillary Clinton in their turn.
For a more recent debunk of the whole "liberal media" myth, one can note how quickly the MSM turned on Obama when Sarah Palin came along to steal his thunder. The media supports whoever offers them the most sensational story. Period.
If the Republicans spent as much time and energy actually formulating workable policy as they do blaming everyone and their brothers for not "getting" it, then they would not have to fall back on finger pointing, name calling and character assassination, as they have done consistently during this campaign.
I do blame the Media for being such incompetent, the Media was culpit on the Iraq war and they are culpit now, they bring us just what GOP said, and what interpretation of GOP of everything Democrats said.
What media are you seeing? What media are you reading?? There is nothing the media will do to backup the Republicans. By the way what is "culpit"? Learn the words you want to use.
nomad1sg, First Sergeant, US Army(Ret)
"By the way what is "culpit"? Learn the words you want to use. "
That's why we need excellent schools for our children so we can compete globally. Do you see how China is getting ahead on Education. Don't be surprised if we turn into third world country!!
nomad1sg, First Sergeant, US Army(Ret)
what media are YOU seeing? Any half way objective person could see that the myth of "the LIBERAL media" has been debunked this election season. Sure there a few commentators who lean toward Obama like Cafferty, Olbermann, and Maddow, but overall the media is quite biased toward Obama. He's held to a different standard than the other candidates. He's constantly criticized by the media for his poll numbers not being high, for his speeches being boring, for his speeches being too vague, for his speeches being to detailed, for the audience for his speeches being too large. He's been held under the microscope while McCain runs around making gaffe and flips all over the place. Any press release the McCain camp sends the media, they air it, including the lipstick debackle. They are ashamed of their peers in the media for covering Palin's daughter's pregnancy, but showing clips of Barack Obama saying lipstick on a pig and repeating charges of sexism is ethical? They air McCain ads all the time to the point where he barely has to spend money on battleground ads, while the only way you get to see Obama ads is on youtube.
The Republicans are even being demonized for choosing a woman!
They choose Palin, immediately it is "how can she have the time".
The pic used on the front page of MSNBC shows Cindy McCain using a telepromter, saying this is how she works, and how she's handled.
Last I checked, if Obama wasn't in front of a telepromter, it was a series of "Ummm, Uhhh, it, it, it, is, is, is....."
And Olberman? Please, he was even pulled off it was so over the top.
Not to mention that it had all started with McCain. Obama simply decided he wasn't going to sit back and take it.
The media is so twisted. I mean on one hand they say "Obama needs to punch back" and then as soon as he says anything, "Has Obama gotten too negative?"
I'm bored of these McCain talking points. I try to just stick to c-span these days (Except for Olbermann, and now Maddow... sometimes Cooper)
the McBush camp picked Palin because they wanted to get the disgruntled "Hillery" voters which they succeeded but not totally, not all white women will vote for her just because she's a woman, that's my first comment.
Second, Palin's nasty remark about "community orgainzation" was insulting, these people provide assistance at the grass roots level to communities that are helpful in so many ways. I read the following on a blog the other day: Jesus Christ was a Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate was a Governor, all "christians" know how that went
You can twist the statement all you want. Obama was talking about McCain/Palin's policies and the fact he is running on CHANGE (which within his policies there is none). McCain said the exact same comparison about Hillary Clinton's Health Care Plan. But, if you are that quick to twist the statement Obama has hit a nerve. Republican's can only attack, because they have no issues or policies to stand on. When you will not let the media interview a VP candidate, it really should tell you something. Either they are scared of what she will say, or McCain is such a male chauvinist that he doesn't think a woman can speak for herself. Either way it is scary. Looks like a dirty old man that needs a trophy woman by his side.
To prove it's not a sexist statement: Dick Cheney used the "pig in lipstick" comparison to John Kerry's policies in Nov. 2004! And to great applause from the crowd, the same crowd now crying crocodile tears.
that is the best you have? A dirty old man that needs a trophy? That is what is wrong with the LIberals...name calling is all they have. Obama vomits the same old thing at every rally and points his finger at anyone that dares stand up to his plans and questions his plans. Give me substance Obama, give me details, tell me as a middle class citizen what you plan to do to make my life better. TALK TO ME, not the OPRAH WINFREY'S of the world. Obama is a rock star that has played his "one hit wonder". God help us if he is elected, terrorism will take on a whole new level and then god help us all because of some people that think it is easier to curl up in a ball and play dead instead of standing up for what is right. Thank God none of you Obama supporters were around when the North thought of fighting the South to free the American Slaves. It was the Republicans that stood up then and it is of course the Republicans that are standing up now....
Brandy,
You ask for substance and details, why not do some research just like you have told others to do.
Obama's plan is out there for everyone to read just as McCain's plan is.
The Republican party that ended slavery bares no resemblance to the party today nor dose the Democrat party resemble the party of two hundred years ago. Bringing up slavery has nothing to do with this discussion and is useless... just as the rest of your comment.
McCain, he does bare resemblance...he wants the best for our country, he wants to reach across to all people, not just the ones in our party....and you are fool if you think that slavery has no issue in today's society. Are we to forget the past and the past fights that made this country strong? If there was no one in the Republican party willing to take a stand on race would there even be an Obama? Think deeper and outside yourself, and by the way "Tool" if have been to Obama conventions, I have read Obama literature, I have been to Obama webpages, I have read Obama statements....so again I say "Fact Check", you tool :)
Brandy, you just have no idea what is going on and you are spewing the disparaging remarks that are made. Go to factcheck.org and get your facts straight.
Brandy,
Let me repeat my self because you seem to have trouble reading
"Bringing up slavery has nothing to do with this discussion and is useless..."
By "this discussion" I am referring to the discussion at hand which is at the top of this web page... let me quote it so you won't have to scroll up "Do you blame the Obama or McCain camps for the recent spate of negativity in the campaign?"
I said nothing about slavery in reference to society as you have inferred.
Furthermore, let me quote you "That is what is wrong with the LIberals...name calling is all they have"
And you have just finished calling me a fool so by your own logic you must be a liberal.
Finally, you have asked me to fact check but I do not know what fact you are referring to.
Brandy,
I know I will never change your small mind about anything, so I will not even begin to try. I do think you need to do some more research instead of just regurgitating the usual Republican propaganda. Hopefully you will vote as a fully informed citizen. However, I won't hold my breath for that to happen.
Well stated. Renee. The thing that scares me is how many other voters there may be out there --who have misconceptions and will vote without really having a comprehensive grasp of the issues.
You're right Renee. I used to like McCain, but he now he just lets Palin and his campaign staffers lead him around by the balls. He looks like a little lost puppy following her around. He will stoop to the lowest level to get elected. How many times has he used the lipstick reference? He is such a joke and all Palin can do is make the same speech over and over again.
OBAMA/Biden 08
If you listen to the entire statement that Sen. Obama made, you will know with out any doubt that he was not talking about her. The people that are getting all upset for noting, are like robots, one person say a stupid thing and all the others just take it and run.
McCain said the same thing three times before, and no one was outraged about it. Talk about double standard.
Brandy the republican party of ABE lincoln is not the same party we have now, check party platforms.Abe is rolling over in his grave every time you beaches invoke his accomplishments! But it's to be expected your grasping at straws, the hypocritical party is all Repub's stand for now corruption and BIG business
Brandy,
You are correct. Insults aside, Obama has a history (albeit brief) of being the MOST liberal senator. He has YET to reach across the aisle on anything of importance.
McCain has SHOWN that. McCain/Feingold, McCain/Lieberman, even McCain/Kennedy.
McCain has gone against his party plenty, even to their disdain.
Looking forward, Obama chose Biden.
Looking forward, McCain chose Palin.
Who exactly is pro-active and a TRUE change advocate?
I am just looking at records.
Mccain has run his campaign on nothing but negativity. This has always been the
republican approach. We, the voters will not fall for it this time.
I ask you:
Can they run on accomplishments.? No, because they have none.
Can they run on policies? No, their policies have almost destroyed
our country.
Can they run on record? No, Mccain has voted against every policy
to help veterans, equal rights and middle
class America etc.
Can they run on judgement? The answer to that is obvious with Mccain picking a
unqualied vp for the sake of getting more votes.
Do they care about our country? Decisions, stances, actions show they are totally
out of touch with the needs of our country and
middle class America.
Will we vote them in? We cannot, the survival of our country is at stake!
name Obama's accomplishments...name his votes and bills he passed.
name his policies....oh yeah, besides "present"
name Obama's record if it is so strong and who he was allied with.
Judgement? McCain unqualified? Name some of Obama's better judgement moves since you are a supporter?
Does McCain care about this country? Are you freigin' kidding me? OMG, I am so unbelieveably surprised that you even had the gall to say that....look at his life and then ask what has Obama done that even comes close to comparing to what McCain did for this country....
OMG, please....
I will be happy to name one of Obamas better judgments... He opposed the Iraq war.
As it turns out he was right.
brandy , please do your own research. even if I tell y ou you still to ignorant to accept it
oh was that he was against the war after he was for it, then against it again? Better off, tell that to my family at the Twin Towers....oh wait, you can't!
Right on Brandy--just what has Obama done. The man just plain scares me and he should scare the whole country. I don't know why people don't wake up to him. People better read their bibles. I say there is only one choice here and it's the McCain & Palin ticket. McCain has done so much for America and he is a very good man. Do look at the man's life. Obama does not compare at all with McCain. Again, read your bibles and don't come crying and asking for HELP is Obama gets into office.
So he was a pow at least he came home would you like to tell my sister why her dad didn't come home . Yea granted it was a horrible thing to live thru but the operative word here is live . While you are so busy slinging mud and half truths why don't you study your history books .
People need to wake up, this once great country is going downhill and we, the voters, are responsible.
by the way, opposing to the Iraq war won't change anything in this country. It will just make it worst!
Brandy, somehow I don't believe you had family in the Twin Towers. You are just a bitter person. This administration has done practically nothing to find the perpetrators of 9/11 except to fight a war in Iraq. The perpetrators are in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Instead of telling others to give you Obama's accomplishments, you should look them up yourself.
Linda,
What part of the bible tells us we should start an ill- conceived, preemptive war?
Brandon,
I very much agree with your statement, (first paragraph anyways) free thinkers are hard to come by these days.
Brandy,
You have taken a John Kerry statement and attributed it to Obamma.
and I quote
"oh was that he was against the war after he was for it, then against it again? Better off, tell that to my family at the Twin Towers....oh wait, you can't!"
The war I was referring to is in a country called Iraq which at the time was under rule by a man named Saddam Hussein who although was an awful man did not associate with a group called
Al-Qaeda that was responsible for the tragedy of 9/11
My deepest sympathys for you and your family.
Diane,
I am sorry for your family and for any family that has lost someone as a cause of a war and terrorism, but sometimes you have to take a stand. How many times are we as a country to be pushed before we say NO MORE? How many attacks are appropriate before we say no more? How many dictators are we supposed to sit and watch murder tens of thousands of people before we say NO MORE? How many times did we have Bin Ladden in our grasp only to chicken out and let him go? You enjoy this debate we are having, all of you people have the right to bitch, complain, and vote because someone in the military died for your rights.
Brandy, are you serious? "Sometimes you have to take a stand", haha, that's a joke when you are sending people blindly and unprepared in to the situation. And who we're we pushed by before? Actually, if you really do your research WE, the US, is the strongest country (not for long with our present circumstances). If anything we have pushed other countries which has retaliated against us (what the government won't tell you). And are you serious, what's going on in Africa, we don't do anything to help, but hey hey we better protect our oil supply. You Republicans crack me up, blinded by stories. I don't have the right to vote because someone died for me in the military, I do support and respect the military but that's the job they choose, I have the right to vote because I am a educated, informed responsible adult that can think for herself, who knows right from wrong, who supports my neighbors, community and country, who is raising two well-educated well-rounded children that will one day help run this country and have the same or better views I do.
You really need to read books, factual articles, etc., etc., about these candidates to make a better informed decision before November because your head is in the clouds, like so many like you, and by supporting McCain/Palin you are setting our country up for drastic disaster, worst than Bush being in office these past 8yrs. The mother that teaches abstinence 17yo daughter is pregnant and we're saying that family issues doesn't have a place regarding her stances on political issues. If that is so, why is it ok for smears be made toward Michele Obama then? Governor Palin is a joke and does not represent me. Yes she has a disable some and she has 4 other kids, how does that help qualify her to be Vice President? Where was she while her daughter was getting pregnant?
Brandy,
You need to go to the school district that educated you and ask for your money back! The last person that died for our freedom was in the war in the Pacific. I have the utmost respect for our military men and women and I want them out of harms way.
Linda: what in the world is in the bible that we should be reading about Obama? thats what i wanna know (uh oh here it comes)
Actually, I think all the Republicans had better stop reading their bibles and start reading factcheck.org. ;-)
Brandy,
Sarah Palin claims to be pro-life - so much so that she would let a mother die before terminating her pregnancy. Well and good - I don't agree with her (nor do the vast majority of American women), but it's her right to believe whatever she wants to believe.
However, one thing I don't quite get - and Brandy, someone as knowledgable and articulate about the Republican agenda as you seem to be should surely be able to set me straight on this - is how one can claim to be "pro-life" and still advocate, as Palin has done many times, (a) the death penalty (apparently she's not "pro-criminal-life"); (b) the Iraq war (apparently she's not "pro-Iraqui-life"); and (c) slaughtering wolves and other animals from airplanes and then selling the rights to claim those animals as trophies to tourists and hunters for a fee (apparently she makes a distinction between human life and the lives of other animals).
As I recall, nowhere in the Bible does God tell us it's okay to kill for any reason other than self-defense, and try as I might, I just can't reconcile all of these contradictions. I would genuinely love to hear how you do it. How is it possible to be pro-life and yet promote murder?
McCain and Palin can't just keep lying to us and expecting that we're all too dumb to figure it out. I'm sick and tired of politicians talking down to us like we're all a bunch of hype believing idiots. At least the Obama campaign has attacked on issues and has tried to keep the discourse on topic. Occasionally, though, its good that they will also hit back when the McCain people spread outrageous falsehoods.
How the heck can a person that wants to be President, say one thing agreeing with Bush then turn around and use Obama's word as 'Change'
pick someone like Sarah to go after the other politian as the pit bull with lipstick think they shouldn't get no bs back at them.McCain is like Vick with the pit bull putting her in the center by her bashing Obama/Biden knowing many will call it sexist, ohh poor girl.
Do we actually want ones like this in office?I blame most of the news media falling into this trap.
McCain, the boss will not let Sarah do interviews and it's due to the fact he must think that will take votes away from him.Either the news media says,we get to interview with anything we want to ask or tell McCain go for it on your own.
I'm getting tired of hearing the same bs from McCain and his pit bull.I'm tired of seeing their ads on tv and then when Obama and his Party says something they cry like babies. We can't have cry babies running the Country. How will they act when they actually have things said about them from other countries. How can ones like this sit down with other countries?
McCain lets get a new show.Talk about what and exactly are you going to do for the American people
It seems to me how the McCain's Party is going it's like Sarah is running for President.
McCain is too old at 72 to go into office. He could get sick anytime and than our Country will be run with a Pit Bull.Other Countries will laugh at us
Obama Mama how I wish you were right. Bitter, you are damn right I am bitter.
Too late! Other countries are already laughing at us--and have been for more than five years!!
JoanD -
Other countries see Obama as weakness.
For crying out loud, he stands in front of the Berlin Wall, speaking to Germans, and apologizes for US?????
Are you kidding me?
What exactly has Obama done???????????
Clinton said it best: He has been scamming around with his slum-lord buddy.
I really do not think its so much the candidates as it is the loyalists to both parties and the media who know very well whats true or not but find the need to gain an edge by spreading false rumor and gossip to win at all cost. Truly a shame that Americans have to compete in such poor fashion for the sake of winning. No wonder most people in the world do not like Americans as most will lie, cheat and steal to win. One cannot deny this as you see it daily in your work environments, athletics and anything else with competition. Very sad indeed.
what's sad Larry is that you believe that. I live in a country where I think most people are good and it is a few people that are bad. It is just that the media dwells in the house of bad instead of spending their time talking about all that is right with the world...
Brandy,
You need to educate yourself...you don't seem to know the record of either candidate. Don't just "shout" everyone down, come up with actual facts. You are still operating with the false information that has been spread. Do some digging, listen and become an educated voter.
This country is in serious trouble...we don't need any candidate running ads with lies. Maybe you should revisit the 2000 campaign. McCain had some tough times with the lies that were spread about him. Karl Rove did a good job in that respect. I'm sure it was painful for McCain. Now he has Rove working for him. Win at all costs? Yes.
Brandy you need to get all your facts together McCain is a yes man nothing else and Palin is a token and you need to look at her record this election isn't about black or white or man or woman its our country and McCain should have picket someone who is really capable of running this country because McCain is old and the job of President isn't easy and I dont believe he will last and right now we need a leader not a token.
Suspicious and carmin - calm down.
Brandy didn't even invoke Obama's name, and you both insult her.
Speaking of research, read Obama's book Audacity of Hope. He even hints at failing as a community organizer. Coming back from his trip overseas to "find himself", he acknowledges his impact was little.
In addition, I really do take issue with everyone questioning McCain's record, and just accepting Obama at face value.
I AM ANGERED BY THE FACT THAT THE MCCAIN/PALIN CAMPAIGN IS SO INTERESTED IN MAKING ISSUES OUT OF TRIVIAL MATTERS. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DESERVE A REAL DEBATE ABOUT REAL ISSUES.
I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THAT MCCAIN DOESN'T WANT TO DISCUSS REAL ISSUES BECAUSE HE IS SO CLOSELY TIED TO THE FAILED BUSH POLICIES.
OBAMA/BIDEN HAVE THE VISION, LEADERSHIP AND JUDGEMENT TO LEAD AMERICA IN THE 21ST CENTURY. WE HAVE A REAL CHOICE FOR CHANGE FROM THE BUSINESS AS USUAL/ SPOILS TO THE SPECIAL INTERESTS ATMOSPHERE THAT HAS BEEN OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS.
YOU CAN VOTE FOR POSITIVE CHANGE FOR AMERICA WITH OBAMA OR MORE OF THE SAME FAILED POLICY WITH MCCAIN.
Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney in a skirt and lipstick. She won't be able to hold a candle to Joe Biden in the debate, October, 2nd. She hasn't done one interview yet. By the way, how about what Carl Rove said about Joe Biden, " he's nothing than a big blowhard Dufus'. The Democrates didn't go after the Republicans for that snide remark. I'm voting Obama/Biden, because we need honest people representing us, we don't need more liars like Bush and Cheney.
If Sarah Palin is so terrible as all of you libs are claiming - then why are you not dancing on the streets with joy?
If she is such a terrible pick, why are you so upset about her being chosen for VP?
I thought the 32-year senate veteran windbag Joe Biden was a great choice for VP - if your a Republican. Especially since the inexperienced Obama has been running on a campaign of 'change'. Hypocricy at its best.
Hillary would have been a better choice because nothing brings out Republican voters like a Clinton.
Scott, the reason there's no cause for anybody to celebrate is that Sarah Palin was selected for the emotions that she engenders in people.
Emotions and personality aren't bad things but they're legitimate reasons to put anybody in a position of such responsibility. One shouldn't for a candidate because they're white, or because they're a man, or because they're a woman.
No one is dancing in the streets because she really could be elected VP, and that might not be good for the majority of people in this country.
McCain, who was known as McNasty as a young man, is an impulsive, quick to anger person. He tells Obama to have a sense of humor when the medium makes slanderous remarks about him. After a rash decision to give us a VP candidate that is virtually unknown and unheard of in this campaign he expects us to trust his judgement on this call. No way. She must be tested by the same fire that all the candidates including Hillary Clinton were during the primaries. What happens when a leader of another country confronts her - will she weep and have Gov Swift come to say "no fair". McCain sure had lots of barbs slug to Hillary and Chelsea Clinton so he has no right to be so pious and protective of his neophyte choice. I think Ms Palin should apologize to Sen Obama for making slanderous remarks about Community Organizers. Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilot was a governor.
hoest, Obama honest...lol, check who he worked with in Chicago sweet pea!
Good point, Barbara. I wonder if they will let Palin come outside and play in time for the debate?
Scott, the choice of Palin would be cause to celebrate, if it were not for the fact that McCain could be elected president, and that he is older, and if anything should happen to him it's Hockey Mom for Pres! Terrifying. This is not a team sport, it is our country's future. If voters prove they can be galvanized by this prospect, then I'll celebrate right along with you.
The old saying is if you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with B.S. - the McCain camp is very good at the B.S. Once upon a time I had a bit of respect for John McCain, I do not now at all. He has turned into a quintessential, deceitful politician. As for Pailin, that she is as comfortable rolling the lies off her tongue is absolutely frightening to me. Carl Rove is at it again and it's disgraceful. They are trying to make this campaign about race and shame, shame, shame on them. We can always tell when the Republicans get desperate they begin to lie, lie, lie. When are people going to stand up and demand that they stop the divisive political game they play every election? It sickens me and decent people everywhere. John McCain and Palin are not interested in "country first" they are self serving, lying politicos who will continue to drag this country, it's reputation and it's people down. Please, be done with them and their lies. Demand that they speak to the issues and TELL THE TRUTH! Show some integrity - tell the TRUTH!
McCain is a horrible leader. Its sad that he has to degrade and insult Obama. If McCain were to win this election, i guarantee you this country will go right down the drain. LEADER NO..... DIVIDER CERTAINLY
And I suppose the "typical white person" comment from Obama was supposed to give us all warm fuzzies and want to hold hands?
I'm a Typical White Person....John McCain, however is not....
"down the drain" is putting it mildly. More like up in a cloud of smoke
Well said Eileen.
Without a doubt the 'typical white person' comment could have been said more tactfully. I'll agree with Scottt in so much as that is true.
Where I'm in agreement of you is that you can any comment, take it out of context, and decide to be offended by it. That's where Scott is coming. He doesn't like the Democratic Party, he doesn't like Obama, and this is just an excuse to dismiss all the positives and the potentials of a good candidate because of one unfortunate remark.
That's the problem with both groups sometimes. This sense that a good leader has to be popular and likable. The greatest leaders of our times, Like Winston Churchill, also said unfortunate things sometimes. Except in Britain during WWII people were desperately trying to hold their lives, families, and their freedom together.. and in those desperate times small petty little things didn't matter. Churchill inspired people to courage and hope.
He wasn't a nice guy in his private life. He cheated on his wife, was a drunk, and he had a foul mouth.
But Churchill held Europe together almost singlehandedly while the world waited for the United States to make a stand (and God Bless the USA doing that too).
If Scott wants to measure the ability to lead a nation on whether that leader can make everybody happy all the time, Scott is going to get the government he deserves.
If Obama can even come through on a fraction of the change and improvement he promised, I'm more than prepare to forgive him that 'typical white person' comment.
EXCELLENT COMMENT. Why do people focus on some small comment taken out of context rather than the issues? I am a "white person" although whether I am "typical" I don't know. What I do know is that I want a President who is concerned about my children's schools, future environment and me being able to pay my bills and live a decent life. I don't care if Sarah Palin has an unwed teenage daughter. I do care what she and McCain plan to do about the ISSUE of teenage/unwed mothers and lack of healthcare for their children, etc! Tell me about THAT, please, instead of trashing Obama's ideas--come up with some of your OWN!
Scott - would it have been a problem for you if Obama had made a comment about "a typical black person"? What about if McCain talked about typical white people, or typical senior citizens?
Somehow, I don't think so. Our society as a whole thinks it's okay for people to talk about their own specific peer group in derogatory terms, but no one else is allowed to do so.
But here's the thing...despite the societal convention that says anyone with black blood in their veins is - by default - black, in actuality, Obama is 50% "typical white person", raised by a typical white mother and typical white grandparents.
Get past the mud slinging, get over the school-yard "he said a nasty word" business, and pay attention to the facts of the campaign.
I am glad that Obama has tried to stay above the Fray and focus his attacks on issues. But after that nasty McCain Education SCARE Ad I think Obama and his campaign are going to take the gloves off. I do hope that they still stick with the Issues and not sink to that despicable level, but being more aggressive and passionate about there stances on the issues are a definite must.
ENOUGH! Obama/Biden '08 Hillary can have her healthcare
We Americans always like a good fight. That is why you don't get Obama.
OBAMA IS PLAYING CHEST while MCCAIN IS WRESTLING IN MUD.
We been used for so long to politically wrestle in the mud and take it for normal, now Obama is showing us how to play political chest. We have to have spine of steel to stay in the game.
Obama is putting you in the game to go and vote: either for McCain or him. For whomever you think the policies will fit your lifestyle. You don't have to agree with him. Just go vote.
Because McCain did not vet a person who would be president if something happened to him, the press had to do its job with intensity as there is so little time before the election. The press, I believe, goes overboard to be fair when, in truth, they should report what they find without apology. That Palin has behaved ambitiously and unethically at times it not the fault of the press. What McCain's choice of a running mate suggests strongly is that he will make decisions not based on knowledge and then blame those who call him on his bad decisions. If he succeeds with this perpetuation of Rove tactics, I fear for our country and its future.
I have heard the same speech over and over again since the GOP convention. Don't they have anything else to say, can't they think and speak on their feet like Obama. I would argue that you need that sort of intelligence to run the greatest country on earth. Remember they say that the voters they (GOP) are targeting are uneducated white blue collar workers, thet should tell you everything you need to know about their campaign. Pulling the wool over Americans eyes is WRONG on all levels. Our country is in trouble and I am dissapointed in McCain for playing stupid politics in times like these, if this is "country first" I am extremely confused!
my dad lived in alaska 10 years ago they started getting checks for 1000.00 per person long befor palin was gov! she did not start that she may have increased it but she is not the one that started it! she lies.
She never claimed to have started it. What she did was return the budget surplus to the residents of the state. The residents of Alaska have been receiving benefit checks from the Alaskan Pipeline revenues for decades.
DNC lies are so easy to refute.
That additional money, to every Alaskan, is coming from windfall profit taxes levied against oil cos., the very same windfall profits tax the top of the Rep. ticket is against and Obama advocates. It would seem that McCain and Palin have yet to reconcile many of policy their own differences, but we don't know where she really stands on any issue, except DRILL BABY DRILL...for oil that will be sold on the global market
What she didn't do, Scott, was return the Bridge to Nowhere money.
I'm not going to take the bait about whether she opposed the Bridge or not, I concede that in the end she opposed it.
What she didn't do is give the money back to where it came from.
Her quote should be, "I said no thanks to that Bridge to Nowhere, but since I have your money I'll keep it."
My point is that not every negative comment said about her is without basis. You may have tagged this poster, but there's still lots of other legitimate reasons to question the positive imagine she's spinning.
Ah, Scott, but she didn't say it was a policy that was continued under her leadership. She is allowing people to think she instituted the policy. So, if it is true that the policy has been going on for a while, Missy needs to confirm that she continued the policy so people don't think how wonderful she is for giving money back to the residents.
Delta did not lie, told personal experience,Palin lies everyday, same lies, the bridge to nowhere she is on video supporting before she said no thank you for bridge, then SHE STILL KEPT THE MONEY and there is another bridge to no where she hasn't cancelled!the plane on ebay twice didn't sell, was sold to private dealer at lower price than bought for,she didn't actually lie about selling it just deceptive, and the CHEF she said she fired,is still getting paid by state and is still cooking, just changed the chef's title, these lies are so easy to find out,now I am looking for what she hasn't said,Like when Palin was Mayor of Wascilla, the state of Alaska had to make a law to stop Palin's town from charging rape victim's for rape kits,Plus this has nothing to do with Palin but statically Alaska has the highest rate of incest and rape in the country! Before she was Gov. of Alaska she tried to get trooper fired,a judge warned her to stop because she was close to being accused of mentally abusing trooper's kids,LOOK IT UP if you don't believe, not like you care or will look into anything that doesn't blow sugar kisses on her anyway, all you need to know she has a big R behind her.I choose to be an informed voter and yes I have looked into Obama also and so far,he exceeds expectations.
The McCain camp can't keep on lying to us and acting like we're too stupid to figure it out! I for one am glad that Obama is hitting back. Someone needs to call these guys on their B.S. I guess when you got nothing to argue then you resort to lies and that is exactly what McCain is doing.
This mess started with the GOP convention. The bottom line is McCain is trying to steal Obama's message of change along with play dirty with Karl Rove and his bandits. The American people are not following for the tricks this time. McCain picked Palin for political reasons and that is to win this election in which he will not.
Sorry...But you are wrong. Obama jumped on the spare 'change' bandwagon only after others used the phrase first. Even though he has yet to define what 'change' really means and what he is going to change, I see DNC apologists still parrot the phrase.
Obama used change in his campaign from the very beginning. McCain started using change 11 days ago. He was the first candidate on both sides to mention change in the nation. McCain wants to peg Washington and the "Old Boys Club" on Obama when he has been in Washington for 26 years. I thought Obama was inexperienced and had hardly been in Washington and the Senate for him to had passed any laws of significance. Now he is of Washington. You Republicans are the biggest flip-floppers and spin artist and will do anything to win an election. Palin fits right into Washington and the GOP with all of her nasty attacks on Obama. Funny thing its not even her attacks because a Bush speech writer writes her rhetoric. and its the same damn speech too. and so is mccain's! Their campaign has been avoiding the major issues and use slander and defamation to try and win this election. It sure looks like Karl Rove politics to me since he is apart of the McCain campaign. And Rove is apart of the Old Boys Club the McCain campaign is so-called going to try and take out of Washington. the McCain Campaign is lies, deceit, and slander.
McCain and Palin are really avoiding the issues and they are saying the same thing
Palin almost recites her same speech from rote memory. Granted that happens with most stump speeches, but she does hers with so little variation that they're almost a recording.
Actually I'm pretty sure I could make Sarah's speech, so if she gets sick or anything she could call me, I even know where to place the emphasis on words.....
