Obama won this debate as he did in the other two debates...McCain is old and forgetful he don't remember what he is talking about. McCain is rude, he shows just what a bad president is like.
amen! All the money they keep ranting about is all the money the supporters gave for Obama to win this thing. McCain doesnt realize he appears to the national audience as "an old man set in his ways, unwavering from anything and I simply see signs of senility and early stage dimentia starting. His advisors an d organizers sank his campaign
McCain has serious anger issues...it's Obama all the way.. he cares about the issues and is sincere
This wasn't the best debate for either candidate but it is the most uncomfortable debate I've ever seen. Obama can afford to be calm and cool because he's leading the polls. I think McCain's anger and rhetoric stunned him for most of the debate because he wasn't as sharp as he's been in the last two debates. I can't blame him. I feel like I need a shower.
How can this man continue spouting this ACORN crap when he was their keynote speaker in 2006? As Rachel M. says, talk me down. McCain does realize that there's photographic and video evidence of him giving the speech. He's delusional. And his defense of his rally crowd yelling "terrorist" and "kill him". He's proud of each one of them. I'm kind of grossed out. Old Spice has lost his mind.
I hope the Obama team picked up on something tonight. McCain blew it. Last fall, at the time of the General Petraius statement on the state of the war, Pres. Bush was defending his position with a statement that I quote as follows: "I am the only one who knows what is best for the people." (seen on CNN last Sept.). Tonight, McCain stated that he KNEW where and how to drill for oil. HE knew what was best and it had to be NOW!!! Did that sound like Bush? Did that remind anyone of Pres. Bush and others regarding the bailout plan just a few weeks ago? Does this position of "I know what is best" remind any one of Adolph Hitler???
I picked up on that also. He was entirely arrogant. He talked about change but continually referred to old policy, laws and regulations. Legislation that is not working for the American people.
Mccain on the attack AGAIN. We are tired of it. Vouchers? Really are given out to a few selected kids and who selects them? Does not work period. Mccain wants to buy bad mortgages at full price. Really bad idea. His healthcare would leave many without healthcare. 5,000. Really? Guess what the healthcare industry will do? Raise it's premiums and even exclude more. Terriable idea. Offshore drilling AGAIN. Old issue and of course not the only answer. I can see nothing Mccain came up with that seems solvent.
Well, I think Joe Paducah is right. I do think he sounds similar to Adolph Hitler. I dont know if he sounds exactly like him. You are right though his man is getting old and it doesn't look like he has the ability to run a country. I do think that McCain is starting to sound like he belongs in a well secured nursing home. Since he is loosing his ballets he is starting to sound like a 4 year old boy. Just like how my grandfather sounds like. Can somebody please disqualify this man and securely transport him to a regional nursing home.
It's just sad how you suck up to this man who has not done anything expect "hype" himself up over and over and over. When he gets elected and doesn't do ANYTHING he is promising, I will be the first to say "I told you so". McCain is too old, but at least I know from his life that he does two things Obama has never and will never do...fight for our country and reach across the aisle. You watch as this man with the worst Congress in history begins to destroy the US and turn into something it was never intended...a socialist democratic state of tolerance and redistribution.....how sad.
Awesome that is true - John McCain needs to be secured in an assistive nursing facility to deal with his obvious intermittent explosive disorder.
Hey anyone notice Beth B's comment up there? #10
She says McCain wins this debate and then states that she knew the "Liberal media survey" would have Obama winning"... Well guess what Fox news online poll as of 10:40ct also has Obama winning the debate at 68% to McCain 32%.
It's called perception.
Even the Republican base knows McCain got it handed to him tonight. Especially when Obama's says American people want to hear the issues (not attacks, although McCain did run one positive ad congraduating Obama), and McCain returns with the same smears about Ayers that Obama just cleared up. In the same breath of smearing O, McCain gives us whiplash with a 180 about his campaign being about the economy?!!!!!
I can't imagine this election even being close except in my home state of Texas.
Wake up! It's not about personality. If you want the government to run your life go with Obama. He makes socialism sound good. Go with the guy with a track record for doing what is best for the country already.
Wow, how people forget. McCain has been in battle for this country, risked his life. What has Obama done. Oh knows, he has just started. Remember this, and if need be look it up. He has been a senator for 931 days and has voted for $931,000,000 for pork barrel spending. That is $1,000,000 per day. McCain has been a senator for over 7300 days has has voted for what, oh yea, zero dollars for pork barrel spending, and oh do you really trust with your money. All I see is a lot of people who are not looking and paying attention. I do agree Obama talks real smooth, and that is the problem. Just for all your information not McCain or Obama is going to get us out of this mess. It will take all of us.
as said by chris rock in an interview: why would Mccain worry about money he has millions and 12 houses, I want the man who has one house who has something to worry about losing just l;ike the rest of the american people out there. I want a man with one house too who has to worry about losing that house cuz as it sits Mccain can stand to lose a few and he will still have too many
yes grady...let's keep government out of it...that is how the banks fell on their collective butts...that is how brokerages are dropping like flies...ohhh....wait...McCain will NOT keep government out of things...government under McCain is going to put women's right of choice back in the hands of back alley butchers when it comes to abortion...I thought Rowe vs. Wade was settled finally...and I thought women finally got equal rights...wasn't there an amendment to that effect?....God help civil rights when the government MAKES us put our medical records on the internet like McCain wants...THEN CRY OVER YOUR RIGHTS
I agree with you sharon, we need a leader some one that will be our voice in a sea of corruption and lies. Oboma will have a big job ahead of him. and if we are not part of the cure, we will part of the problem . I am voting to give him the chance, I vote for change what ever it takes it will be worth it . I fought in Viet Nam and lived through the venum i came home to. and I for one do not want some one who was torcherd in a POW camp for five years with his hand over the big red button in this unstable world. the guy's to old and agery to have that chance at possible revenge.
Obama proposes to let Americans with a "crisis" have access to their IRA accounts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he would allow people to use 10,000 dollars of their IRA money. This is one of the worst ideas I have seen. Not only is it that he failed to mention that you have to pay taxes on the 10,000 two years later, but IRA is for retirement. Also, if they don't have money for mortgage or whatever they would use it for, do you really think they would be able to pay back the taxes? What would happen when someone goes to retire and has insufficient funds and was planning on using the IRA? Then we are right back in the same boat that we are in today; Americans borrowing money that they do NOT have. For me (an 18 year old kid) to find this alarming I think this is a pretty important issue.
A microcosm of a Mccain presidency from the great state of AZ...
near last in the union for health care...
near dead last in education...
a right to work state- which means you are underpaid
for your work and your skills and your health care blows!
Sound familar?
In twenty six years of service what does Mccain have to show?
No legislature for the science and or implementation of sustainable energy/solar despite AZ. being number one for the amount of sunshine available!
Johns a little late with his energy plan...
What’s Mccain biggest feat- he provided the Indian nations/reservations with gambling- whiskey too!
Mccain-he never met a war he didn’t vote for!
So much for Joe the plumber supporting John Mccain...
The plumbers and pipe fiters union of the United States has gone on record to give their support to the next president of the U.S.
drun roll please....
The senator from the land of lincold, Barack Obama!
Later Joe!
Thanks for your input on McCain's achievements in his home state. I was unaware of his lack of beneficial representation. Hopefully others will read your comments and see how contradictory the man really is.
i completly disagree with you! Barack is just using information from his last debate! now is that what America has come to, someone that is basically a broken record that wont follow through? Personially of me and my friends being the future i dont think we deserve someone who says more than they do and personially from my point of view i dont think Obama should be able to run!
First of all, learn to spell. Decent grammar would be a plus, too. And considering Obama's increased focus on education, as opposed to McCain's already failed voucher idea.. maybe you should reconsider..
I agree with , I don't want an anti American president and fraternized with terroristsand then lies about it. I pray that the American people wake up and think for themselves and not let the media run this country any longer. Just look around, they have not been doing a very good job. I also believe that we are seeing allot of gloom and doom that is not as realistic as we are being made to believe it is. Our restaurants are still booming, the roads are jam ed and the stores are packed with buggies full in Youngstown, Ohio, and we are proud to be American.
Of course Senator Obama used much of the same information from the last debate, because he was explaining his positions on topics and proposals for action, which McCain has difficulty doing on a consistent basis. Obama is not a broken record he is consistent with his statements because they are genuine, why would you expect him to change his positions?!?!?!?
Lastly, if you don't think Obama should even run, CLEARLY you haven't done your research. I am the future of this country as well and I know Senator Obama is more than qualified and able to be the President.
*Do your research and use spell check next time ;-)*
eb005, sorry to disagree but in my 45 years i have observed a few things as well as a few administrations. The media does not run the government but since 1973 they have an increased awareness to report on the corruption that occurs. Now that personal greed is at an all time high, spending is stagnant, dollar is flat, jobs are overseas and prices are rising (also known as 'A recession') it is time for the PEOPLE to resume the stewardship of this government. A paternalistic approach to my future is not what I need. I pay attention both domestically and abroad and am appalled at what we have brought forth as a nation. P.S. Mr Ayers was known as a dissenter to the Viet Nam war who possibly engaged in violence. It wasn't until the Rovian Republican campaigners decided that "terrorist" had a much better sound to it, so go easy on the rhetoric.
kidsrthefuture, if you post is truly representative of your education than your simply underscore another failed policy. "No Child Left Behind" clearly did not serve you well, for not only can you not spell or construct a proper sentence, you have lost the ability to critically think.
I laugh at the reports that says McCain kept Obama on the offensive. First 20 minutes maybe but then Obama who never lost his cool...got him, nailed him etc etc etc. Obama let him get away with nothing although McCain certainly tried everthing he could. Didn't work. Obama looked Presidential while McCain looked like he was taking notes for an up coming school test.
If McCain really cared about the American people, he would have resigned from the race a long time ago. This is serious and we need a solution to our problems. We need immediate help for our economic hardships. God Bless Obama! and may God help us all.
E chester - You state that being allowed to remove 10000 dollars from your IRA is a bad idea and that taxes must be paid on that money two years from now.... Please understand that IRAs are not required - they are optional. Not everyone has them. There are also two types of IRAs - standard and ROTH. You can remove money from either of these for housing or medical expenses without penalty right now. The difference is that you will need to pay income taxes on the standard IRA deduction - ROTH IRA taxes are already paid. The other object to consider is that Social Security was developed as a safety net so that seniors would not starve or be homeless - if the republican congress and administration had its way 4 years ago your SS money would be invested in the stock market today! GOODBYE safety net!
Bashing McCain, huh. Why don't you learn to speak."He don't" It's idiots like you who will ruin this country.
Why do you care who looks more angy? Id rather have someone old with experience than young who is going to learn on the job by having his puppet strings pulled. McCain knows the system, he knows how to lead. Obama is a charasmatic crowd pleaser. Look at the issues, not who is more smooth in the Debates.
I can't believe that you would choose who to vote for by who you thought was "cooler" in the debate. have any of you looked at the fact that it was Clintons' deregulation of the banks and the democratic majority congress' inability to act that brought on this crisis. To blame your situation on President Bush for problems that were handed to him by the previous "democratic" administration just shows your complete and utter ignorance of the entire process of governing. As a 48 year old man with a 78 year old father, there is no way I would trust an inexperienced "community organizer" with no solo experience in any capacity in government to "lead" me. I tend to trust in the experience of those who have been down roads that I may face in the future. Barack Hussein Nobama has no more experience on those roads than I do, and you don't see my name on the ballot. "Change", we must remember, is not always for the better. Please remember to vote for something, not just against something. May God bless this land.
"In every crisis there is a message. Crises are nature's way of forcing change--breaking down old structures, shaking loose negative habits so that something new and better can take their place." - SUSAN L. TAYLOR
It is time for a change. It's not just about black or white but about America going back to the Land of Opportunity. As an undecided, last night's debate pointed me to Obama - without a doubt. McCain has yet to layout his plan in detail, whether in full disclosure or half-way. Obama's gave 4 steps that he would take to turn the nation around. McCain was set on demeaning and belittling Barack to the point that he started looking a kid trying to tattletale on another. Every politician has a skeleton or two in their closet. Would he like some of his to come out? I don’t think so and I praise Obama for not getting in the mud with McCain. Is America ready for an African American president? I guess we’ll find out – sooner than later.
It seems as though America would much rather have a young, inexperienced, socialist who votes as "present" more often than actually voting in the senate, than someone who has devoted his LIFE to this country. I personally would pick experience over eloquence. We all get that Mr. Obama has less than 4 years of experience on the national scene right? I know we want change, I get it, so does everyone else. But why vote for someone with such a shady past? There are just too many holes and unanswered questions about Barack. I know Mr. McCain may not be ideal. If nothing else you have to vote for the lesser of the two evils. It's sad to say but that's the way it is. And if you think that by voting for Barack is you to make life easier for YOU personally, you are getting suckered in. None of what hesays he wants to do is possible without borrowing money from somewhere. Maybe China or India or maybe he'll raise taxes.150 Billion for this, 90 billion for that, $5,000 tax credit for people who don't even pay taxes. Really? oh wait, I know, we can use Capital gains taxes. No we can't, because of the decline in our economy, nobody is getting taxed on capital gains because they don't exist. You are all in for a rude awakening,we'll be beyond bankrupt and you'll be the cause for it and the soup and bread lines.
Chris, McCain is more of the same of Bush/Cheney. His pick with the arrogant Palin did it all for me. He is old and she is clueless, arrogant and downright not qualified for the job. How does McCain with his 7 houses and 13 cars relate to the average Joe???? He can't. i respect him for his service to the country but he is running a bad campaign instead of dealing with issues, he is more interested in negative smears. If something were to happen to him, i am supposed to pick Palin as she already abused her powers in Alaska, she just got her first passport last year , look up Thomas Muthee her witchhunter pastor, she has 5 children and a newborn with special needs and she is the one to run the office with her uneducated husband- what do you think i am crazy!!!!!! We are already in deep crap from 8 years of Republicans-no more!!!!i am republican but there is no way i would vote for them. also she does not reporesent me a educated white woman..
OBAMA - RAMBLING DURING THE DEBATE, HAS NO IDEAS, NO EXPERIENCE, ASSOCIATED
WITH AYERS AND REV. WRIGHT WHO IS ANTI-AMERICAN...
IF YOU VOTE FOR HIM YOU ARE MORON
Then just call me a moron, Ashely. I do not mind a completely inaccurate insult being thrown my way, but this country can not take four more years of trickle down economics, unending war, and deregulation. And we can not take the risk that a secessionist, power hungry, power abusing, ethically challenged, intellectually challenged, talking points spewing nightmare becomes President if anything incapacitates McCain (god forbid, we wish you good health in your retirement John). McCain only offers fear, hatred, and more of the long discredited economic policies of the right that have bankrupted our country. If fear, hatred, failed economic policies, and the evisceration of our Constitution sound good to you, pull that lever for McCain.
Dear Ashley, this is who you are voting for with regards to McCain:
Take a look at McCain's school records, where do you think he ranked within his Naval Academy class? HE WAS 5th FROM THE BOTTOM! Yes, the person you want as President, John McCain, graduated at the BOTTOM of the Naval Academy at Annapolis class in 1958; and you want HIM for President!
As for McCain's leadership skills, guess what? He has been labeled as RASH. Is that who you want with his finger on the "button"? I would not want any "Rash" person holding any trigger! A person like that is quick to anger, this was obvious during the debates. Sorry, but McCain is old, out of touch, and I don't believe can lead us to a future that is beneficial to our kids today. I bet the man does not even know much about a computer.
Obama academically as a person, is superior to McCain. Obama’s ability to appear calm and appear unflappable is a strong suit. He grew up in today's world. There is less judgement based on skin color and religion with the generations that came after the late stage of the baby-boomers. It will be exciting to see where, someone younger than 50 years of age can lead this country. The man has two young girls and I'm sure their future will play a big role in decision making on how we as a country move forward.
I'm sorry Ashley, thinking like your's just leads to stagnation...which is what we've had for the last 8 yrs.
Just a question. If Obama promises CHANGE from our current Gov't why did he pick one of the saltiest, longest running Democrat incumbents alive today? Now he's got a spot open for Powell in his administration. The same guy who pleaded the case for the current war and was vastly unpopular among Democrats because of it. I honestly think the only change in the white house will be the skin pigment of the commander in chief. The jokes on you.
Obama, talented deceptive socialist. well spoken but is he the answer. NO... unless you like a socialistic society where the government says what you can buy, where you can live and how much money you have to purchase food and clothing. why do so many democrats fall for this guy??? unbelievable.... most of the comments on this site are angry.. what has happened to the united states of America? are we all on vacation and the Presidency is up for purchase? doesn't anyone see what this guy is upto? God Help Us.
McCain is not worth the decrepid body he haunts, nor should he ever be allowed to give us the misfortune of smiling on national television- He said himself on msnbc, " I'm expecting to be beaten by Barack Obama, just as bad (if not worse) as i had when i was so weak and stupid that i became a prisoner of war due to my lack of ability as a human being. I tell myself that because i was one of the few, weaker soldiers, that i will be a strong president." Call me crazy, but i rather have someone who spent a larger % of life in politics, rather than a weak , unskilled veteran who has mental destress and damage from his poor state of life as a prisoner of war.
I think McCain needed his diaper changed towards the end there.
I think he'll need some Metamucil before he goes to bed. He's gotta be up to his blinky eyes in crap if he actually believes half of the poo he's tryin to shovel at the American voter.
It is so funny, McCain's inconsistency and erratic behaviour just makes me laugh. "My friends" as he would say, we all know the economy didn't go into crisis a month ago, it was in decline for quite some time. McCain has changed his plan how many times? Do we need a President changing ways, plans and policies out of the blue because he just realized this or that one isn't working? This is not what we need, we need a collected and organized individual, we need somebody smart and someone who's full of ideas that is going to make this better. McCain might have showed some energy and enthusiasm two days ago in his campaign but today he looked like the Grinch.
LOL, McCain sounds like a grumpy old man, and Palin..shes a freakin joke! They are a disaster. OBAMA all the way baby, he is cool, calm and collected.
Your right, McCain sounds so bitter, do Maverick's get angry a lot? Or as Palin would say, were a bunch of Maverick's, please, McCain is bitter and old, and she is a robot speaking with an ear peice.
Wow... and these are the people who may be responsible for america's future... how does it feel? Having that weight on your shoulders? With the immaturity of all within this post, I'd love to see the look on your face when Obama's socialists set up camp in Washington and ruin life as you know it - economy in the @!$%# hole or not. It might simply resemble that of a nun forced to give a blow job, or like you just jumped out of an airplane and forgot to strap on your schute... by then, who knows... you might just wish for it.
Yo serenity, we are all joking around, not trying to threatening anyone's life or well being! We are having fun and not all serious...duh!
I get sick of people from both sides trying to draw all these extreme comparisons to the candidate the don't like. A few posts up someone was trying to compare McCain to Hitler which is ridiculous, and then someone else was trying to paint Obama as a Marxist/socialist. Let's be real. My friends both of these candidates think that they have the best plan for our country. It's purely a difference of opinion. If everyone had the same ideas we wouldn't even need an election. If your gonna call someone a socialist or a communist how about giving some examples of why you think that instead of just trying to use shock words to excite or agitate people. It's absolutely preposterous the way people behave around this time. If someone doesn't believe what you believe they must be socialist or communists or whatever else you feel like tossing out there to foment some kind of emotion.
One reason people have for calling Obama a socialist is his policy plans. Comments like "spread the wealth around" sound very much like socialist rhetoric. Obama's plans to take more taxes from the upper middle class and give tax credits (i.e. send a govt. check) to 40% of Americans who pay no taxes is simply unfair to those who work hard and succeed. But more important than fairness is the damage it will do to our economy in the long run. People who make more money are the ones who invest and create jobs. That is better for all Americans in the long run. One last thing, look up Party of European Socialists on the internet. You can go directly to their website, not some partisan site by the republicans and read for yourself how they are enthusiastically supportive of Obama and look forward to working with him to establish a "new world order" and to "work for the common good". That is scary sounding to me.
Obama has been critisized by his supporters for not attacking McCain more but I agree with him. He's taking the high road. He's not trying to win by making the other person out to be a "terrorist" but he is telling it like it is. I have done alot of research to check the facts on what both of them have been saying and while Obama has been incorrect a few times-it doesn't even compair to the lies that John McCain has been saying. That's why I will vote for Obama. I believe alot of what he is saying and have simular views-where as McCain is speaking like a democrat just to get votes but I guarentee if he became president you would see that he won't do good for 95% of us Americans. Do your homework and make a smart choise. It doesn't have to be negitive.
Soarl-the voice of reason! I am quite disgusted by the ridiculous and extreme labels attached to these candidates, socialist...marxist.....radical.....communist.....terrorist....senile....demented. Are you for real? We are tackling serious issues in America and in the world and we instead resort to name calling as a debate tool. We should be able to disagree without compromising our self-respect, integrity and honesty. It seems that when we don't have a rational argument as to why the other opponents policies are bad we resort to name calling, not very original and rather backward. Grow up people!
I have nothing against John McCain. He has been a good public servant. Why Barack Obama got my vote is because I share his vision for this country. We are not in the best of times for this country for all the apparent reasons we all are aware of. Without any emotional connection, I firmly believe Barack's plan for the economy, for education, for healthcare is what our country needs at this time. We only have to look at our own American history to realize we have to do what is best for the common good.
After the Depression of the 30's, our government and president put into law the "New Deal"- programs to get the country back on its feet. If you really look at those programs, there are some similarity to what Barack is trying to propose now. Take a look at another era of American history when the government had to intervene to bust "big business" and put into law reforms so that companies don't keep monopolizing industries. Again, for the good of the whole. Now, think about the first administration of George W. Bush-- despite what you may think of him now, the government and the president acted for the good of the whole. We allowed some of our liberties to be compromised: wire tapping, news about water boarding and other punishment, arrests without warrants, etc)... You know what, at that time, it was necessary or at least warranted.
I guess my point is that I believe in the American system of government. Thank God we have the opportunity to elect officials to manage what our country needs at this time. Right now, Obama is exactly what this country needs: fresh ideas, innovation, intelligence, diplomacy, strength and charisma. There is no question that John McCain is a good leader in his own right, but I firmly believe the man with the plan is Mr. Obama.
Serenity, life as we know it has already been destroyed, and our constitutional rights are slowly being taken away, no phone or internet privacy, no habeus corpus, standing troops on our soil, etc. etc. We're just frogs in a pot and the Bush/Cheney Gop congress of 6 of the last 8 years has secured that.....Haven't you noticed your freedom and rights slowly slipping away in the name of fear....that and your paycheck....and all the stores and factories closing.....? Are we voting for the less of 2 evils? We usually are, I just have some Hope that maybe, just maybe Obama may be a ray of light.
Obama's plans to take more taxes from the upper middle class and give tax credits (i.e. send a govt. check) to 40% of Americans who pay no taxes is simply unfair to those who work hard and succeed.
Sherry, I guess it then becomes fair to give $700B to institutions who gambled with money from pension funds, 401K accounts, and thumbed their nose at those same hard-working Americans you speak of? Or, is it that socialism is cool as long as it benefits those wealthy few who just caught a few bad breaks? It amazes me to no end that people fail to realize socialism has been and is still practiced with great regularity for big business. Who do you think has cost the taxpayers more, the welfare mothers who are regularly threatened if they don't find work, or the corporate fat cats who our government has bailed out over the last 6 months?
As far as your assertion of people who make more money creating more jobs, you really need to get your head out of the republican playbook and look at the reality---those people are putting their capital in places like Indonesia, China, and Mexico, where wages are cheap and regulation is lax. Ross Perot may have been a little eccentric, but he was on the money about the "loud sucking sound" of jobs leaving America in the then-proposed global economy. This is the "trickle out" economics nobody wants to talk about---take a look at job and wage growth statistics over the last 8 years, then get back with me when you figure out just where those jobs and extra money went.
Finally, you speak of the "scary" idea of Obama working with European socialists to work for the common good. Do you find that more scary than fighting a war under blatantly false pretenses, destabilizing the Middle East, erosion of your rights under the guise of "patriotism", alienating a great many of our allies, crumbling relations with Russia (who remains a danger since they can really, really fight back), and creating a whole new generation of jihadists because of our foreign policy stance of the last 8 years? Tell ya what.....you and Sarah Palin can pick up some rifles and head on over to Georgia and Ukraine and defend their sovereignity when the time comes---just remember you'll have to do it for less money than a male soldier.......
Sherry -> I would like to know what country your from where the "Upper Middle class" makes 250,000 a year? Also Obama's plan is for "Working Families" Not for people who pay no taxes or not work.
Concerning socialism and big government. Currently this is the most socialistic and biggest government we have ever had and it's not done yet. And who is doing it, George W.
McCain is done, all is left to do is go VOTE. I have to tell all of you that I will be extremely relieved when this election is over, the thought of Sarah Palin being in any white house except one made of ice is simply frightening. We have all seen her as the republican puppet but be warned people like this have a way of changing the roles and I think if McCain\Palin would win that McCain would soon have her hand up his ass raising his arms and flapping his lips. Remember Bush\Cheney.
MotownPhilly hit the nail on the head. *clap* Well said.
As for all those people using "spreading the wealth around" like some kind of blasphemy...remember, there's a reason Robin Hood was a hero.
I tell myself that because i was one of the few, weaker soldiers, that i will be a strong president." Call me crazy, but i rather have someone who spent a larger % of life in politics, rather than a weak , unskilled veteran who has mental destress and damage from his poor state of life as a prisoner of war..
Obama looked presidential. McCain looked like an angry man fighting with someone he clearly dislikes. As President, he would have to deal with many people he may not like. Obama clearly is better for America.
i totally agree with you Obama would be the best president that we have had in awhile now. it would be a change and a good one all this on how he is now Bush, well he is a republican enough said!!
Message to McCain: thank you for your service to your country; now you MUST retire. Obama will be a great president.
Obama is a Muslim and not qualified for president. He was not born in the USA. Can't even provide a birth certificate. Makes you wonder.
Do you realize there are laws about running for president? And you have to have been born in this country to run? And to be born in this country, you'd have a birth certificate? Also... the Muslim thing again? Obama is a Christian, he was raised a Christian, he was born and raised in America, and he actually has provided a very valid and very legal birth certificate.
Oh, and why would being a Muslim mean you are not qualified to be president? Hate is a wasted emotion, especially hating someone for something as silly has having a different religion than you.
Kamipulu!
Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961.
Uhi mai ka lani po (translation for you "the night sky spreads forth"). You figure it out!
ar_dennis51You might want to do some fact checking before you post. Keep you from looking like a fool. Here let me do it for you. Go to FactCheck.org they have already discredited this rumor.BTW: McCain was born in the Panama Canal zone. Technically you could argue that he is not native born and therefore not eligible to be president either.
Get your facts right before you spout off. Obama is not a muslim, he has said repeatedly he is a christian. Where have you been, under a rock. and he was born in the US, Hawaii to be exact. why do you & other people believe lies instead of checking out the facts. stupidity.
For all those who still beleive that Obama is a muslim and is not born in USA, they should go back to school and start reading from kindergarten. Education eliminates ignorance.
Very well said. Cant believe how pathetically ignorant some people are. You would think that before making stupid comments they at least would hit the google key; As McSame would say: Try it MY FRIEND
You honestly can't be serious. You think Obama is a Muslim, and not born in the USA? Where did you get that information?
Maybe you should factcheck before you post:
Both of those links prove that your claim is based on false information, or maybe just grasping at straws.
You, sir/madam, are an uneducated, racist excuse for an American. Only people like you make me wonder. So what if he is Muslim (which he isn't). What makes that any better or worse than him prescribing to any other religious beliefs, especially in light of the fact that we live in a country of separation of church and state? And please do not reply with some ignorant excuse regarding Muslims and the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Do a bit of research and you will find that the majority of the terrorist acts upon American soil since the country's existence has come at the hands of (supposedly) Christian WHITE men! Go bark up some other tree... Besides, neither George Washington nor Thomas Jefferson were born in the US. Don't see anyone complaining about the jobs they did in office...

I agree, since there is a separation of church and state, then the religion he practices of outside of the government he is within reason to worship as he pleases. As far as that photo that started these allegations, they should have done more research. Making comments such as he is a Muslim says something about the true nature of being free to practice religion. It means you must be a declared Christian in order to run for the highest office without any Muslim ties. Here is one, when I was in college; I wore borrowed Indian attire (Hindu) for a party that I was invited to. I should not run for office in the future because American’s are going to denounce me and call me a non-Christian.
You said it correctly,, Palin is an American joke, not to mention.. moron. Just another
bad judgment call from McCain.
I think some of the McCain people didn't get the memo that the Obama "slander thing" (muslim, etc. etc.) was LAST weeks plan....
This week it's the economy.....
Obama has no respect for anyone so how can you say that and he does not even respect the house of the Lord.
Obama set in the church of Rev. Wright for over twenty years. He only left that church when the public complained. Now, the Rev. Wright talked about hating whites, Jews, America and anything not black. Now, Rev. Wright is a man of GOD so he says. (Men of GOD do not strew hate)
When, the pastor preached to hate whites, Obama set there even when he knew that disrespected his white mother and grandparents who loved and raised him. His father did not do that.
When, the pastor preached to hate America, Obama as a public official of USA swore to defend America just set there as the hate America was strewn. (Over 20 years of listening to that)
When, the pastor preached hate he disrespected the house of the Lord. Church is for worship of GOD not to preach hate. How, dare Obama set there and listen to the hate in a church. The Rev. was supposed to be a man of GOD and GOD is love. You should never use the house of GOD to spew hate. I totally do not like OBAMA because he disrespects GOD by letting hate enter into his house and not jumping up to defend GOD.
His views on the economy and world view is scary but, his lack of respect for the Lord is bad.
I am mixed as Obama and I attend a black church. Blacks love GOD and I am offended that it makes it look as though blacks use the house of GOD to preach hate. This is only Rev. Wrights church and his parishioner.
OK, so the fallback position of the slander-Obama set is that oh, wait, no, he isn't a Muslim, he's, he's, ... he's a Christian who had a nutty pastor, yeah, that's the ticket!!
No point trying to converse with a fact-free slanderer, but for any bystanders who haven't gotten the message, Wright's "GD America" line was part of a story line in a sermon about how bad you can sometimes feel and how low you are sometimes driven. This was the "crucifixion" part of the sermon, and it didn't end that way, it ended with the "redemption" part, where we are to understand the glory of God. Taking five seconds of a man's speaking career out of context is remarkably dishonest.
I still think Wright is a bit nutty, but McCain doesn't exactly have clean hands when it comes to nutty pastors.
Your tone is quite self righteous. I learned a long time ago to steer clear of always and never. So it is simply untrue that Senator Obama has no respect for anyone. Your opinion is clearly skewed. I saw the video of Rev. Wright but I never saw Obama in the congregation so you assumed he was present at these controversial sermons. Trinity does not promote hate. It is unfortunate that you are trying Obama on the misdeeds of others. What is known about Obama is that he chose to return to the community and help those who were facing unemployment during the closing of the steel mills. He chose to devote his life to helping improve the lives of others, to empower others to become involved in their communities and improve their standard of living. In this campaign it has been Obama's words that have inspired rather than incite. It has been Obama's leadership that has spark intrest and involvment in the democratic process. He has grown his campaign from the bottom up. Prehaps you have not taken the time to listen to him. His light is shining bright and it is a beacon to those who believe in a better America. An America that truly promotes liberty and justice for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
zadie, you don't want to open can of worms. mccain and especiall sidekick palin pasters makes wright look like saint
IF AMERICAN DOESN'T WAKE UP AND GET OUT OF THIS PRAISE OBAMA MODE...THEN WE ARE HEADED FOR SUDDEN DESTRUCTION..BEFORE YOU CROWN HIM PRESIDENT YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER WHO HE IS SUPPORTING..ACCORDING TO MY SOURCES IS A MAN WHO LEAD A TERRORIST ACT ON A SCHOOL IN AFRICA....WHERE THE SCHOOL WAS BOMBED AND ANYONE WHO LEFT THE SCHOOL FOR SAFETY WAS BEHEADED AS SOON AS THEY RAN OUTSIDE..AND HIS STAND ON MORAL ISSUES IS SICKENING...WAKE UP!!! HE IS CLEARLY MUSLIM..WHICH HE ACCIDENTLY STATED IN AN INTERVIEW...CHECK IT OUT ON YOU TUBE.....THIS MAN WILL ONLY SEND THIS NATION DOWN BECAUSE HE IS WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO PUSH GOD OUT...AND THIS "MY FRIENDS" IS GOING TO BE THE DEMISE OF OUR ONCE GREAT NATION...
Obama does look presidential and what's more important he sounds presidential. His attitude towards his opponent is nothing less than respectful. We don't need anyone like McCain as president with such a condescending attitude and anyone who conducts himself in such a childish manner. McCain has had his time in the political arena, it time to step back and let someone else try to clean up the MESS that Bush with his help has gotten us into.
On the subject of separation of church and state: One of the issues that concerns me is the growing influence of the religious right. Sarah Palin doesn’t believe in evolution, and advocates teaching Intelligent Design. I understand McCain’s pandering to this part of the Republican base (it’s all about votes, right?), but I have a problem with the religious beliefs of a few being taught in public schools. People and dinosaurs walked the earth together? That’s not what I want my kids being taught. Just one of many differences I have with McCain/Palin.
The you tube video of Ms Palin in her church on the 'stage', touting that the Iraqi war was a mission from God, equally misconstrues the Word of the Lord that I learned.
P.S. Sarah, the Crusades are over, in case you missed the last thousand years.
Zadie - You mean like the hate that McCain and Palin are inciting and encouraging at their current rallies?
Last time I checked, Obama had left that church and stated that he did not agree with what Reverend Wright was doing. And I do believe in last night's debate, John McCain emphasized directly to the camera how proud he was of the people that are showing up at their rallies. So logically, that means that Obama has tried to distance himself from hatred, whereas, McCain and Palin have surrounded themselves by it. Hmmmm.....
You as many others are blinded by this SILVER TOUNGED DEVIL.....pretty sad that because someone speaks well we will elect them. Dosent seem to matter that they will say anything you want them to just to get elected. Barrack is far more interested in being president than taking care of us...... Strange you cant see that!
I feel nothing but pity for those attacking Obama here. They keep name calling everyone who supports him and keep coming up with the same lies like the candidate they support (McCain). It seems you people are the ones blind by what is right in front of you. McCain is the one who is more interested in being Prez than taking care of us. Anyone can see at the way he talks, acts, etc. that he is just a salesman making a buck than someone who cares for you.
You are dilusional if you think McCain/Palin care anything for the american citizens. Strange you can't see that!
But McCain has a history of working with people that he does not agree with. Obama has a history of... NOTHING. I love it how he can boast he didn't vote in favor of the war because at that time he was still organizing his community in Chicago with Jeremiah Wright. It is so rare to hear someone in support of Obama because of any good ideas he has. It's always "He is so young! He is so charasmatic! He is so calm! He is so vibrant!" I agree with all that, I just don't see the relavence.
I think its very interesting how if one or two people say something then its suddenly becomes "all" I do NOT vote for anyone because of charima or anything else. One reason Obama appeals is his health care plan is bette then McCains. That 5K wouldnt touch my current healthcare coverage. I would be paying more. Now here comes I'm sure a very touchy subject...abortion. While I do NOT agree with abortion for any reason...I think as Obama stated we need to educate and prevent....but as far as the health of the mother goes...until you have BEEN there you can't understand it at all. I do NOT believe a victim of rape or incest, who has already suffered great emotional distress and trauma should "be forced" to carry to term that act, as Palin states she would have done. There are many other forms of risks of "health" than just the physical, and they should be considered as well....I know.....I have been there.
I understand your feelings for pro choice, but McCain clearly said in the debate that we are discussing that he favored letting the states decide. What is wrong with that? The federal government takes too much power and does far more than they were ever allowed in the constitution. We need a president that will keep goverment and power closer to the people, which means decentralized government. They are both bad for small government, but Obama is much worse.
as far as i can se all i am hereing esp from Mccflalin supporters is name calling and Bs for 1 i grew up in a very racist catholic church witha pastor who hate the English and protestants and other religions I knew it was wrong in my heart not every sermon was hateful but alot I grew up still trying to do the right thing and eventually converted to the other religion of my ancestors who politically and emotionally were more tolerant and moral and ethics were huggher Eastern Orthodoxy but that was my choice the main point is a truly good person or person of God would not name call or smear I am ashamed for being a republican in the past. I believe Obama by his plans would benefit the good hard working loual americans and cannot believe their are so many biggoted raxist ignorant greedy Americans I weep for this country and pray God intervenes and think Palin and her Pastor are a greater threat and thier immoral bs anti christian behaviour. i dont care what color or creed or belief system a person chooses and if your christian you believe in helping the good person and not be so greedy outsourcing over taxing and help fix this country and final note Obama said hes not for abortion its not his decision to make he thinks its a tragedy but we ned to educate and prevent and try and help but the bills need to be more practical and he is not God it is not his decision to make it is between the mother and God which Palin and the lunatic fringe like doing take the mote from your own eyes first peo choice does not mean proabortion it means we are not God or claim to be and try to help a person out of compassion ieither way ive never had an abortion even done to my animals but personal attacks and name calling picking out spelling errors all of you should be ashamed this is not answering a debate or fixing our country start acting with decorum or dont answer at all
I am so impressed by the debate tonight.John McSame is angry, attacking that addressing the issues.I do believe that McSame/Palin are Doomed!! but thank God America will be great again under Obama/Biden
GOBAMA/BIDEN 08
It's ironic you say "Thank God America will be under Obama" when he has, on several occasions, not acknowledged God. Examples? Refusing to put his hand on the Bible when being sworn in as Illinois Senator, rather putting it on the Koran...not wanting to say the Pledge of Allegience...not putting his hand over his heart during the national athem... Wow, and even Hillary noticed that!
Why are we making such a big deal about Obama and his Beliefs when it is our government that has been pushing GOD out the door.
Acknowledging God in the above mentioned way is the greatest disservice to God anybody could do.
It was NOT Obama that swore in on the Koran, it was a democratic congressman. Obama is a Christian and did in FACT get sworn in on the BIBLE! Get your facts straight. I and the rest of the country are getting tired of these unfounded and simply wrong statements from the right!
And your point is? Where does it state - anywhere - that the leader of this nation has to be a Christian?
will, the only fact of what you said is that he didn't put his hand over his heart during the national antham. He was sworn in on a bible, and it's a lie that he doesn't want to say the pledge of allegience. Besides, I want a nonreligious president, the seperation of church and state is imperative for this diversely religious country.
Thank Jehovah, Allah, Buddah, and Ra that America will be under Obama
TO: will-0228 - Your comments are very old and very untrue - they are false e-rumors - check them out at this site -
Better to check your FACTS before you post them.
will-0228
Face it - you're a racist. You have a problem with some body with non-caucasion skin being elected to serve in the highest office. Saying he's Muslim, he's un - American, he associates with terriorists. It's the same old Bush/Rove tacticts. Fear and BS. Do you know what the terror alert color is today? And honestly, if Hillary were the candidate you'd be writing about haw an emotional female couldn't be trusted in the position. Shame!
will-0028, do some deeper research.obama is deeply guided and purpose driven by his faith.
he has always publicly declared his faith to be Christian.to say he was sworn in on the koran is a complete lie.
i can show you a picture, where is your proof?
everyone who believes this should Google, "obama sword on the koran", the first link is a video of obama explaining this and pictures to refute this lie.
Why are you stating lies. This county is in real trouble right now. The country does not need another person spreading lies. Liars are the most unpatriotic people out there because your lies show you have no faith in the people of America, no faith in God (Thou shall not bear false witness.), and no faith for the Pledge of Allegience(with liberty and JUSTICE for all) . I pity anyone that has to spread lies to get thier point across. I pray for you, your family, and your society.
You all do realize that these are rumors. Obama is a Christian, not a Muslim. Do a little fact checking before you start spewing ignorant hatred all over this message board.
Beware the trolls (will-0228) spouting lies that are easily verifiable. There's even a picture of Obama taking his oath of office surrounded by his family with his hand on the bible. You lie easily and often. Your parents must be so proud.
Kim, read excerpts from O'bama's book. He is Muslim, you need to research it as well.
Will-0228-
Do you work for the MCCain/Palin hate machine or are you merely ignorant? Just another racist in America, I guess. Start reading, and stop misinforming folks with lies. Obama was sworn in on the Bible, since he is a Christian. The Qur'an was used at the swearing in ceremony of a congressman whom happens to be a Muslim. Last I heard, this is America, a diverse country populated by immigrants, or the sons and grandsons, granddaughters, etc, of immigrants since the days of the pilgrims. Then the greedy white people thought the happy black folks from Africa might be better off in shackles in the hold of nasty ships, and they were brought here. Gee, how come all these black people live here? I am forever shocked by how much racism still exists in this country. It embarrasses me to be white sometimes.
This country is the home of Ellis Island, Mr. Will. And the Statue of LIBERTY. We have been welcoming people from around the globe to our country forever, and I, for one, am better for it. Thank God we're not a bunch of white folks running around, with no diversity, no culture from other countries and history to draw from, and stuck only with our own stupid white ignorance, perpetuated by scared, hate mongers like yourself. Vote for Palin and the Good 'ol boys. Maybe she will mistake you for a moose!
Brian M. First, he's not a Muslim but Second why should it matter if he was. No where in the constitution does it say you can't be a Muslim if you want to be president. Just admit it you are a racist. You use "Muslim" because it is socially unacceptable to say "Black"... I never realized how many racists were left in this country until this election and personally I am ashamed of us. You all need to do some serious soul searching and maybe pick up that bible you all love and do some reading. Last time I checked it preached tolerance and goodwill. I must have missed the part on racism and prejudice.
Doesn't matter what religion EITHER candidate is. There is SUPPOSED to be a separation between church and state in this country. For someone who doesn't believe in God, Allah, Buddah or whoever you want to pray to, the religion factor is a non-issue.
I've seen the videos and pictures. Felt like one person should say something towards McCain's side to mix it up in here. I actually just heard someone comment on tv saying that arguement...
Racist I am not. And whoever tries to pull that card just because someone says something that you don't agree with is tiring...
Will I wasn't talkin to you I was talking to Brian. But I do have to wonder why you got so defensive and assumed I was talking about you, even though I specifically targeted my response to Brian?
will-0228---FYI, Most of our founding fathers were deists. Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president (in case you have the facts screwed up that, as well) was sworn in upon the Koran, so the idea is neither new nor is it in ANY way un-American...Not that it matters, since Obama is Christian.
This is for brian M.
1. To be the president of the U.S. You have to be an american citizen. ( born in the U.S.).
Obama was born in the U.S.
2. Obama is considered Muslim because his father was muslim that religion is passed to the male children only. But now he says he is Christian and I think that is the biggest pile of BULL Crap because if he was he would not have been in Rev.Wright's chruch.
??? "...if he was [Christian] he would not have been in Rev. Wright's church" ???
I've heard Wright called a lot of things, some of which I agree with, others not. This is the first time I've heard anyone allege that he's not a Christian. Got any backup for that?
On the subject of separation of church and state: One of the issues that concerns me is the growing influence of the religious right. Sarah Palin doesn’t believe in evolution, and advocates teaching Intelligent Design. I understand McCain’s pandering to this part of the Republican base (it’s all about votes, right?), but I have a problem with the religious beliefs of a few being taught in public schools. People and dinosaurs walked the earth together? That’s not what I want my kids being taught. Just one of many differences I have with McCain/Palin.
will0228, it was congressman Keith Ellison, of the MN 5th distrct that used a koran to swear in on, as apracticing muslim.
Game OVER.
Joe the plumber.....Bob the builder......can we do it......yes we can!!!
That was a massacre. Isn't it nice how Obama can win without even having to interrupt his opponent?
I feel that Obama is the best person for the job. I feel that should he win, he will have so much to clean up including a lot more people like McKain who are just a part of the problem, certainly not the solution. I can't understand anything Mckain is saying half of the time. He just good at negative remarks, in addition to that it is ovious that he dislike Obama a lot, his whole body language expresses the comtemp everytime he looks at Obama ( by the way this was the first time he looked his way while debating). How can a person like this be President of anything but KKK.
So if Obama wins, does that mean that the Jesse Jackson and Wright mentality can finally shut up and admitt that our country isn't out to get them?
McCain and Sarah Palin is a big liar and they promote hatred in American, not what America needs today.
Sharon-540911, Give me a break! The left has viciously savaged Bush for eight years, hoped for Cheny's death, equated Rove with the Waffen SS, claimed that Palin is the Anti-Christ, called McCain a sleaze bucket, and said that our troops are butchers or worse.
It seems that the left is all about tolerance, except when you don't agree with them. And they are all about dishing out dirt but not being able to take it.
If Obama is so sensitive that anything Mccain or Palin has said offends him to the point of affecting his judgement, then he needs to seriously consider stepping down.
As far as what people in crowds say, the candidate doesn't control them. But look at the two candidates' reaction to an inflammatory situation. Mccain tried to calm the crown and inject reason. Obama only disowned the racist pastor when it became politically necessary. Which reaction shows true character and good judgment?
Geo Sapper
Can we agree to disagree without loosing temper??? can we ?
Were you watching the same debate the rest of the country watched?
actually what i saw was obama not wanting to engage in condeming the mccain camp about the silly charactor issues but mccain continued as he always does instead of talking about what really matters to regular people
GoeSapper, first off, Republicans have short memories. Ya'll 'savaged' Bill Clinton and now you're wining because we've chosen to call out Bush for his lies, deceits, misguided war, torture, more lies, shredding of the constitution, disregard for anything but the pen he uses to make 'Signing Statements' with?
Please. Bush and Cheney have been the WORST presidential pair this country has ever had and luckily the American people can see it. You should go take a gander at Bush's approval ratings in the near future.
do you actually watch what is going on in America? How can you comment that McCain and Palin are liars. They can never be as good of liars as Clinton and Obama. America is in trouble because stupid people live outside their means and stupid people allow it to happen then wonder where all the money went. There is not a politician alive who is responsible, only those people who did it to themselves. Your probably one who is in way over their head and hope some democrat will bail you out
I would ask which democratic candidate stated these things you are claiming. Your arugments are irrelevant. What about the political rally in which a Pastor asked for God to do his will and allow John McCain to be President. This was a polictial rally for John McCain this is beside the point however... and Barack Obama did a eloquent job of not allowing the guile being spit out by the republicans and his suppporters to affect him he understands whats important and what the true issues are. The fact there are supporters of McCain out there like you is what makes seriously worry and question the future of this country. Do you realize that there is a real possiblity Sarah Palin could become are President. Lets stop worrying about all the issues that dont really matter and lets look at the facts. SCARY!
What debate was you watching, Obama was clear about appealing to what really counts not worry about what McCain had to say about him. All McCain could do was bring up the same old same and wouldn't answer anything about his own policies it's always just Obama this and Obama that. Obama 08!
When individuals live outside their means, individuals and their families suffer. When mega-banks live outside their means, entire societies suffer. They are both bad, but to lay what's going on today solely at the feet of individuals is just emotionally-laden bull@!$%#.
Geo Sapper, what debate were you watching? Barack has shown AMAZING restraint in dealing with Old Spice and Caribou Spice. There's a ton of skeletons in those closets and Barack hasn't lowered himself to making character assasinations. If Ayers and ACORN is the only thing Old Spice can come up with then we will have a very bright future in this country.
Keating 5, Muthee the Witch Slayer, AIP, Cindy's drug use, RACE BAITING, gambling habit, free cellphone towers from Verizon for his ranch, G. Gordon Liddy, Karl Rove, SARAH PALIN (aka Caribou Spice), lying for no good reason, town hall meetings, his own decent into dementia. Need I go on?
Yes, I have drank the kool-aide and it was gooood;)
GeoSapper - McCain did nothing to stop the racist remarks made at his rallies until he was raked over the coals by the American people. You question Sen. Obama's judgement, excuse me. McCain had what, a one hour conversation with Palin before picking her - the reason for vetting someone is to look into their background so you do not get surprised - such as the fact Palin spoke in July 2008 at convention for a group of people in Alaska who want to separate from the US and she told them they are doing a good job. Please America, do not let people such as GeoSapper drag this country under, we deserve better and Sen. Obama will help this country regain the respect we lost under Pres. Bush.
Bush deserved everything he got and has coming to him. How can ANY Republican look back on the past eight years, and raise ANY high point of this man's Presidency. How he has gotten away with this much, for so long, is beyond my comprehension. And someone please tell me why George W. Bush is not being held accountable for crimes committed against humanity?
He has single-handedly not only tarnished our country's reputation the World over, but he, to satisfy his own ego, has lead us into a WAR that we had NO right starting in the first place. He is a fool, but more importantly, our nation looks like even bigger fools for electing this rogue child to a second term in office.
The United States will feel the effects of the past eight years for decades to come. Never again can we put ourselves in this position. Never again! I am an American, and I believe that this country, can and will, regain it's standing in the World community. And we will begin to do that, with the leadership of Barack Obama as President of the United States of America.
Obama 08
Geo, Geo... We didn't savage Bush, we just pointed out his "quirks" and laughed. We didn't plot Cheny's death, we cracked up when he fired a gun aiming at a friend. We didn't claim Palin as an anti-christ, she's not even qualified for that job.
Also, your writing is all over the place. Stay calm when you write. You might hurt a finger.
Chris Tyler is crazy here. Bush is a good leader. Can you really say that Clinton was a good leader? Lets revisit - USS Cole was bombed, the FIRST bombing of the world trade centers and he did not nothing (other than Monica). He was impeached because of his inability to define particular terms. He was going to be the savior for health care and put Hilary in charge of his great plan - I was an RN then and I still am. His plan never got past his speech. If you have children surely you take the unpopular approach because of the need or greater good. Most of you think about tomorrow, but not past that. Long term Obama will be no better than Clinton (if anyone could be that bad again). Just look for yourselves at the facts. Can Obama back up or prove anything. His voting, is college, service, experience is all a big secret - why. Does this not alert any of you. Dont continue to blindly follow.
uhh sherri... what did bush do during 9/11 and during katrina, or the economy, and the war isnt working very well now either??? BUSH IS THE MOST UNPOPULAR PRESIDENT EVER WAKE UP!!!!o and you guys so desperately request that we dont align bush and mccain and you do the same thing with irrelevant info. arghhh reading these ridiculous comments really boils my blood.
As I told you in your other blog, look at where the country was when Clinton left office, compare that to where we are now after eight years of Bush/Cheney/McCain - you really need to pull your foot out of your mouth so you can hear a little better. As for Palin, she had her preacher pray for her to be protected from witchcraft, she says that the report did not find her guilty of unethical behavior, please, all that proves is that she cannot read and comprehend very effectively. As a commentator stated, I can see the moon from my backyard but that doesn't make me an astronaut, Palin needs to acknowledge that she is not ready to be in any major political position, I pray for Alaska.
GeoSapper - I think that McCain, rather than Obama, showed his sensitivity more than anything during tonight's debate. Insisting on an apology over and over from Obama reminded me of my 18 month old nephew when he doesn't get a toy he wants. Obama came off as the calm in the storm while McCain looked like a rude, stubborn child. I was very much undecided until tonight's debate. Although I agree and disagree with issues on both sides, Obama struck me as Presidential tonight. I worry whether or not McCain could handle himself in a manner appropriate to the President of the United States with foreign dignitaries and other politicians who may not agree with his policies. I believe that the very eloquence that McCain bashed Obama for might be the first step in rectifying our image in the eyes of the rest of the world. And believe it when I say our current image has done just as much damage to our national security and our economy as any war or bomb could do.
"Bush is a good leader." Then why, for the past 3 years has his approval ratings been in the toilet? Good at leading our country to the threshold of hell.
Sherri - you lost me at "Bush is a good leader". With all due respect, you must be out of your frigging mind. And you're calling other posters crazy?
GeoSapper: Without attempting to respond to the most egregious parts of your rant (do you feel better now, getting all that frustration off your chest?), I will address a couple of points that are not totally beyond the pale.
First of all, just look back over the history of the attack ads in this campaign and you'll see that while it was McCain who initially took the high moral ground, it was also McCain who first abandoned it - when the tide started turning against him - in favor of character assassination.
Virtually every attack ad from the Obama campaign has been in response to accusations, attacks and allegations first aired in a McCain ad. Personally, I don't condone "tit-for-tat" politics, but you clearly like to play so fast and loose with the insults and accusations. I just want to set the record straight.
It may be true that the media, among other entities, has "savaged" Bush. I'm sure I speak for millions of others in responding that, for the disaster he has wrought upon this country, he deserves whatever he gets, and then some.
Nobody I've ever heard has called Governor Palin the "anti-Christ," or anything else, really...except "unqualified." What I have heard said is that her extreme views in no way relate to anything Jesus Christ preached. The Governor has apparently never asked herself, "What would Jesus do?"
Tonight's debate is a perfect example of Obama refusing to be distracted from talking to the issues by McCain's attacks on his character. McCain and Palin's venomous tactics have backfired on them from the beginning because Obama wouldn't rise to the bait...and also because they just don't seem to "get" that American voters are sick to death of sort of mean-spirited, backstabbing politics that have become the Republican stock-in-trade. McCain tried it again tonight, and again it failed.
Finally, regarding the crowds at the rallies, the key here isn't that McCain or Palin did, or didn't distance themselves from the threats and epithets hurled by a few wackos (just BTW, they didn't). What's significant is that you just don't hear that sort of thing at an Obama/Biden rally. I know because I've been to several. It might be, as you say, because Democrats are just more tolerant (I'll ignore the rest of that blather), but I'm convinced that even if you did, then you would also hear both men speak out aggressively to cut it off (unlike Palin or McCain - she incites it and he lets it slide).
The real tragedy is that Americans like you have become so cynical and jaded that you refuse to recognize leadership when it's standing right in front of you. Obviously, it will be up to Obama to prove himself as President, and obviously for people on the extreme ends of the political spectrum, like you, that may be the Impossible Dream. He may turn out to be a great President but he's still only human.
However, based on everything I've seen so far, and speaking just for myself, I flat out don't want anyone as unbalanced as either McCain or Palin = McCain in his temperament and Palin in her beliefs - deciding the fate of my family, my friends, or my country.
Sherri you honestly believe Bush is a good leader? That scares me. Say what you want about Clinton, but during his administration I had far fewer worries than I have now. Mr. Obama has been very clear on who he is and where he's been. As far as there being a mystery surrounding his voting, college, service, and experience there's no secret. His voting record is public record, he went to school at Columbia and Harvard, he's been working with the community in Chicago, and has 8yrs experience in the Illinois senate and 4yrs in Congress. What else would you like to know? I feel like people want to know what he dreams of, and what color socks he's wearing and whether or not he likes gravy on his mashed potatoes! He has been in the public eye for over 2 years. I think he's done a great job of presenting himself to the public and will do a fine job as president.
Ya, while he's telling Americans it'll take him about 10 years to balance the budget, Palin is in New Hampshire telling the public that they (McCain/Palin) Will balance it in their first term. HA!
Speaking of New Hampshire- She said how great it was to be in the great northwest. The only problem is NH is in the Northeast. Boy is she stupid.
These so-called remarks at the Palin rallies never happened. It has already been proven through an FBI investigation that the reporter made it up to boost Obama. The only person that "heard' the remarks was the reporter... no-one else... There were several interviews of people around the reporter, plus every secret service agent was interviewed. The only person that heard the remarks was the reporter. I am not a fan of McCain either, but we do not need reporters viciously making up stories to sway votes!
Did anyone just hear McCain say that being a military veteran automatically justifies your ability to teach? I definitely disagree with this statement! I know plenty of troops, etc. that in no way are educated and trained to be effective teachers. What was he thinking when he made that statement? Send troops to teach our children without a college education and state examinations...preposterous!
I heard that.. the qualifications for enlistment have been lowered for some years.. yet you wish to make some soldier with no college ok to teach. I'm sorry that is unacceptable.
The "Troops to Teachers" program does require a specific standard that at least 'meets' and frequently 'exceeds' the same standards required to become a teacher. You would know this if you actually researched the program. It's not just any troop, you have to have a degree. And, frankly, most of the troops I know, including myself, are better educated than most teachers and better equipped to instill discipline and motivation in kids. I'd trust a military officer with my kids any day! Bottom line, research a subject before spouting off like an imbicil!
McCain thinks that military service qualifies you for anything, which is why he feels entitled to the presidency. I am a teacher and I couldn't disagree more with everything McCain says. He doesn't have the slightest idea, nor would he last a day in a classroom.
Absolutely preposterous statement demonstrating that McCain knows nothing about teacher training and qualifications, but equally frightening is that this comment demonstrates he actually knows little about the mental condition of veterans returning home from war, many of whom can not even relate to their own families who love them unconditionally. So many veterans need immediate psychological help to deal with PSTD and training to transition to to being home from the war. Imagine these same men and women coping with the stress of a classroom without adequate training, testing, and mentoring. This comment revealed much about McCain.
I agree wholeheartedly about that--troops qualified to teach with none of that "education stuff that's required"...ludicrous...where did that come from?
Wow! I definitely picked up on that. My sister is a teacher, and she had to earn a masters degree to keep her license, not to mention having to take continuing education courses. My mother-in-law was also a teacher and a reading specialist. Her knowledge of phonics and language was overwhelming. A person has to learn how to teach. I have no idea how being a military veteran qualifies one to teach. How absurd! Well, McCain just lost the NEA!
I heard McCain say that also and agree with you 100%! Being a military veteran does not qualify a person for any job they desire just because they have served the country. The Dept. of Labor offers all jobs to the military veterans and their family members first and will train them through the community colleges while they are on the job. If you are not a veteran and have a degree...stand in line because you will lose your current job to the veteran or the spouse of a veteran and will not be considered for the choice jobs offered in your communities. You will not be able to submit resumes for these jobs because you will never be told they are available. (Written by an ex-employee of the Department of Labor with a graduate degree).
Troops to Teachers is a good program but soldiers should not be given a free pass on the certification and tests that are required to become a teacher. It takes more than an education and discipline to be a teacher. I know very intelligent people whom can not teach their way out of a wet paper bag.
Yes, I did catch that bit about troops teaching without having to meet state standards and exams. Good grief!! Does the man hear himself??? I cannot believe he has the smallest group of followers. How did he get to be a serious candidate?
Everyone agrees that part of the answer to our failing education system is to assure that qualified teachers come in to the classroom and stay. Allowing troops to leave the military and go straight into teaching is insane! Those education courses have a purpose; they help prepare candidates for the classroom. The state tests for teachers help to weed out those who would be unsuccessful before they can do any damage to students. My son is serving in Iraq. He's a great guy, but he's certainly not ready to go into a classroom and teach!
Sen. McCain has a problem. You see, he is not a hero.(Unless your definition of hero is a lose one.) Please read "Make-Believe Maverick", the story of John S. McCain III.
If this guy is a "teacher", we really have to re-vamp our educational system!
Maybe he can teach us how to crash 3 planes, but still hold on to your "wings". Or hold your breath until you turn blue to get your way. No joke. True stuff. Or maybe he can teach us how to be totally self-centered.
My favorite line from Johnny boy: "..let me land, or I'll take my field (McCain field - named after his grandfather) AND GO HOME!" Funny stuff, Johnny boy! Take your meds and go to bed. We'll even pay for your fishing license if you just GO AWAY!
And take that over-rated-lipsticked-pig with you!
OBAMA~BIDEN '08-'12
Thank you everyone for your valuable comments. I was unfamiliar with the Troops to Teachers program but I agree with pookie. My main frustration was with McCain's comment that the troops should be able to bypass the certification process necessary at individual state and national levels. I also would like to add that although troops may have the discipline to address classroom management, it does not mean that they have any understanding or education around instructional strategies, such as differentiation, in order to reach all of the students in the class. If McCain wants to draw people in and assist them with understanding his position, he needs to be more explicit when discussing the Troops to Teachers program and how the changes he is suggesting are substantiated by research.
jill, florida....you said, "I'd trush a miliatry officer with my kids any day!" And you nailed it on the head, officer, i.e. college education, or at a minimum, long enough in the military to get an equivalent in education/training. I'm all for helping out our veteran's, but we need the very best to teach our youth, albeit ex-military or civilian. I guess your argument can be backed by saying W. graduated from Yale. ;)
Military are not given a free pass on cert exams you are foolish to think so. Right now there are many teachers in your school who have not passed the cert exams. Go check it out. We need good teachers. I would give more consideration to someone who served in the military than someone who did not. I would hope many most Americans would. I am not a teacher but have my masters and have to do cont. ed. I hope all professions would including teachers
We are not saying that the military is currently given a free pass but that McCain suggested that as a potential solution or strategy to his educational policy in the debate tonight.
Caught that too, near the end of the debate. Every teacher, from any background, should meet state standards and pass state exams. Being a veteran is an honorable thing, but not a free pass. I think that McCain f*rted out his mouth.
McCain said he'd allow troops to teach WITHOUTH obtaining the certification that states require for teachers. So he'd allow uncertified people to teach our children. That is not the way to a solid educational policy: allow troops without any formal teaching training to teach our children. Sorry, no deal.
The Troops to Teachers idea originated with Ross Perot! His point, however, was never to put an ill-educated veteran in the classroom. He suggested that we respect veterans and do whatever we can to encourage them to use the GI Bill to get a teaching credential and that, ONCE QUALIFIED, they be given preference in hiring. His point was that we needed more disciplined people in our very undisciplined classrooms - especially in our poorest schools. I still think that basic concept is a good one.
I was surprised that the media did not pick up on it more. Perhaps within the next few days. Just another example of McCain's bizarre thinking. Grasping at straws to get the veteran vote.
I have 22 years in the Navy and when you come up to the senior enlisted ranks we all have degrees but that still does not mean we are all qualified to teach at civilian schools. We are better suited to be administrators at schools. The leadership skill we posses are not taught in schools. You would be surprise how educated the Navy and Air force is, and what we can do.
I totally agree! I'm sure that he feels that being a POW automatically qualifies you to be the President of the United States as well. At one point the military didn't even require a high school diploma. While I appreciate his military service to our country, I am afraid he lacks the judgement it will take to turn our country around. His antiquated ideas, erratic behavior and negativity is a total turn off and not the characteristics of a worthy president. My vote is for Obama-for my children and my grandchildren.
I believe Senator McCain did better than in previous debates. However, he seemed to show a great deal of sarcasm though his remarks and body language.
McCain was seething mad, and said he was "hurt" by Senator Weiss's comments. Hey, it's politics, McCain shouldn't be hurt.
We don't see Sarah Palin say she is hurt by comments from the Obama camp. John McCain only good comment was "Look, I'm not President Bush." Other than that Obama won the debate.
However Carl, Mccain, I think did a little better. I do agree with you on that.
McCain did seem to be an angry old man who I think feels he is entitled to the Presidency, but his comment about being hurt was priceless..........a war hero getting his feelings hurt, a soldier who survived years as a POW not being able to deal with the same kind of politics he himself dishes out---I thought Senator McCain showed himself weak....................you didn't hear Senator Obama say he was hurt after Senator McCain had effectivly painted a target on his back in an atmosphere of true danger. Senator McCain pushed incessantly in a direction of character assassination and tried to steer away from the issues..........I guess if you are rich the character angle seems more important you, but 99% of Americans are not rich and they wanted to hear about the issues and their plans to overcome them. Also I'm tired to waiting for Senator McCain to clear out his ears and listen to people when they tell him that what he believes about Senator Obama is NOT TRUE! The man seems to be like George Bush.........."talk all you want, I won't listen because I'm always right". No leadership qualities here.President Obama..................has a nice ring to it.
In fact Obama stated we can't be bothered by whose feelings are hurt but we must find solutions for the American people and went on to say I can take 3 more weeks of this stuff BUT CAN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE TAKE 4 MORE YEARS OF THESE FAILED POLICIES?
McCain looks like he is about to have a stroke! I used to have respect for him, but this election brought out the worst in him! I think its time for the old guy to retire! GOBAMA!
Do we really want another four years this nonsense? Watch and listen - his name should be McBush. And I have one other question, John: you want to force children to be born "We'll take care of them" - fine. Are you willing to adopt them, or do you think we the taxpayers should support them?
As a gay man, in a committed relationship for 4 years, my tax dollars will pay but under no circumstance should i be allowed to adopt?!? Something sounds wrong with that statement, huh?
I think you should have the same rights as others-you are an American. Period.
I also have a question. How is it possible that Sarah Palin "knows" about autistic children (according to McCain)? She has an infant with Down's Syndrome. There's a huge difference. I get the creeps just watching McCain try to pander to the audience.
Circusbrat -
Thank you for your comment. Finally someone is addressing a very important issue. If abortion is outlawed in this country, who will pay for the basic necessities of these - by definition - unwanted children? Women today are having an increasingly hard time collecting child support. If we take away abortion as an option, will we then definitively require the father of the baby to provide support. If the government takes the position that the rights of the unborn superseed the rights of the mother, than it also has to superseed the rights of the father. DNA testing can definitively provide the idenity of the father. Will the government then require THE MEN to put their money where their mouth is?
Or, on the flip side, if a woman is forced to have a child, shouldn't she then have the right to turn the child over to it's biological father leaving the moral decision of the childs future in his hands.
Obama has you so fooled with smoke and mirrors ! Under Obama's plan there would be no regulations on abortion and we the tax payers will be paying for it. You go ahead and pay for killing babies!
THANK YOU Kristin!!!! Since when can you diagnose Autism in an infant? Not to mention how does one become an expert, more so than any other parent of special needs children in America, when your child is only 5 months old!!!
As for those of you opposing abortion - how many of you have adopted children? How many of you have been foster parents? how many of you have taken in pregnant teens or women who were kicked out of the house or who can't afford a pregnancy or birth? how many of you have paid for counseling for victims of incest or rape who became pregnant? Practice what you preach. No one likes abortion. No one thinks it is a great solution, but no one has the right to legislate another person's body.
Imagine how many babies we could have saved with the 10's of millions of dollars your baby protector party could have saved instead of wasting it in Iraq! And I am prolife. Wake up and look at the entire picture. The GOP cares nothing for babies. If they did then they would have encouraged stipends for preganant women to take vitamins and followng a healthy diet and started a decent adoption program.
Here, here!!!.
Why is it that pro-lifers are all for forcing their moral beliefs on others but then wiping their hands of the situation once they get their way.
Note to Pro-lifers: Life doesn't begin at conception and end at birth...
You want to force these women to have children, you better be willing to help support them.
Not only is her child only five months old, but for the last two months of his short life he has not had his mother there to tend to him, just to use him as a prop for her campaign speeches, that does not make either an expert in the area of special needs children or on being a good parent. The only person who should decide about an abortion is the woman who is having to make a difficult decision about something which will affect her for the rest of her life.
I feel that we are infact in a terriable time and I just hope that all you guys that are so sure that Obama is the "right one for the job" that all he say's he's not is true.
I hope that when Obama wins, he can help the education system enough to at least teach people like you how to spell and write correctly.
Did you watch the debate tonight? Did you see Obama's responses relative to his relationship with Ayers and with respect to ACORN. I think Obama was very convincing and made the charges seem very foolish. I am voting for Obama. I have read his books and I have read everything I could find about him. There is absolutely no question that he is the one we need to lead this country.
I'll second that! As a baby-boomer who attended 11 different schools in grades K-6, I understand the value of great teachers. Let's get back to education basics!
I am going to cast my vote based on my own economic situation. Prior to Obama...all politicians have been found guilty of misrepresenting the facts. We are all losing our hard earned money. Who is the true voice for the middle class...we are paying the bill for these bad decisions. Be an informed voter and vote beyond race and age. we are hurting as a nation. I have never followed a presidential election this close and have found that my deepest values fall under the "Republican" theme...however, the tax policies under this administration do not favor my beliefs and I pay more...so I tend to be democratic just based on economics. Does anyone else feel this way??
Speak down to me if you like I still pray that Obama is telling the truth about what he is not.
Barack won!! Yes I agree that Obama won the debate although I think this debate was not his best. McCain did good in the first 30 minutes but like McCain has made very public is his anger and his blowups. McCains anger and blowups came out. I do agree that McCain did sound angry, petty and a little crazy. Obama was calm, collected and thought his answers out but McCain was angry and very defensive. I don't think this debate will help McCain much if any.
I wish my contemporaries could get past "good looks" and "smooth speech" and look at the issues at hand and experience each candidate brings. This is not a beauty pageant - look at voting records, double talk and actual action - then decide!
Yes, and look at flip-flops during a crisis. Your man is past his prime and has been clearly outclassed. It is time that we chose a President and a cabinet that is intelligent, and doesn't "gamble" and use snap judgement. If McCain has fought so much against his party, then why didn't he leave it?
Please use your own advice when dealing with Palin. All looks, NO substance!
Someone should have told McCain it wasn't a beauty pageant before he picked Sarah Palin!!! With the definite possibility that McCain may not last 4 years, I hate to think of her running the show.
Kathy, Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama does. She was a mayor and is now the Govenor of the largest state in the Union. I am always astonished at people who say she isn't experienced enough to run for Vice President, but at the same time think Obama should be President of the United States!
I think John McCain has shown again and again that he is a hot headed reactionary person. Is this the man you want in the White House with the nuclearcodes??? His anger is a big concern in the world we are living in today. Even if I don't agree with all that Sen. Obama says, I do think his calm is much more encouraging than Sen. McCain's anger.
Where is the common sense on this board? I am reading how one candidate looks better than the other, how one is creepy and old and the other is whatever...
The issues and how the candidates are prepared to tackle them is the most important thing to consider when deciding who you will vote for. If you can not give both candidates equal consideration because of their looks then you are probably not responsible enough to deserve the privilege to vote in the first place. This is not a beauty contest and a persons character is very important for the position of President.
I don't believe in redistribution of wealth - I am not "rich" but if I were I wouldn't like the government telling me I HAVE to contribute more taxes as penalty so that less ambitious people can climb the ladder easier. Huh?
I am pro choice but I don't condone partial birth abortion. I believe that if a baby can live outside the womb then it has a right to life.
I do not think we should have government run healthcare. Just look at social security. Enough said.
I am not religious but do not believe that the God that this country was founded on should be abolish from all schools and public buildings. It is just ridiculous.
The government should not rescue ignorant people from their bad decisions. People need to be accountable for the situations they end up in and suffer the consequences, learn from it and move on. It builds character and makes a person wiser and stronger. The government bailing out every person who doesn't want to work hard or made bad choices equates to MY tax dollars going towards the masses of stupid people. No thanks.
quite frankly I think a good portion of you posters need to have your heads examined, the ignorance that is shown in some of these posts reflects the real problem with our country. I personally can't stand either one of these guys, they both talk from both sides of the their mouths to promise things that neither one of the them can produce. I am a middle class American, we own a small business, I work and we live within our means, neither I or my husband attended college because we could not afford it,I got a job that provides health care that I pay a portion of , that is what I was taught was the thing to do when you go out into AMERICA, the land of opportunity for all. We need to go back to basics and not spend money that we don't have, teach our children that you can't have it just because Joe Blow has it, there is a price to pay for selfishness and depending on Government to give you things that you can go out and get for yourself. The price is what is happening now, get off your butts and work , get your own house in order , who cares what other people have, you don't have anything if you don't have pride in yourself. Oh and by the way Obama is dirty underhanded and has achieved things in deceitful ways, so has MCCain, but it does not seem to matter because our country is so accepting if this, get anyway you can, don't care who you steam rollever to get it, that is why abortion has become a excepted practice for getting rid of life that was created for sexual gratification, there is no excuse for unwanted pregnancy, stupidity and selfishness . If pregancy occurs because of rape or incest it is between that person and God and the decision that is made is and should be solemn, private and I am sure devasting. No one won the debate last night because you don't win anything if you don't tell the truth.
Mccain is pigheaded, ignorant, and condescending. He doesn't even know the difference between autism and down syndrome
EXACTLY!!! He is so angry. So NOT presidential. We need so many things to change, first and foremost someone who has a CLUE!!!
I'm glad others heard this too. He also mentioned it last week. He seems out of touch and focused only on the aspect that Palin happens to have a child that is "somehow" disabled and that fact gives him a new drum to beat.
I wish everyone would just stop slamming McCain! My God the man served his country and loves America, that's more than i can say for Obama.....He has done nothing for Americans! He has sat in a church for how many years and listened to that so called preacher "DAMN" America.! As far as i can see, i know nothing about his background, they will not release that! Personally, i believe he's a Muslim Terrorist and if he get's elected America is in a lot of serious trouble! May "GOD" Bless America ! Not "DAMN US"We need a president that doesn't do drugs either, and loves "AMERICA".... ninety percent of you people flapping your jaws are proubably "YOUNG" and don't know what your doing, your just going to vote because he has """"""""""""""""""Dark skin..... Well remember , you get what you ask for, bend over and kiss your butt goodbye if he gets in office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Than we can all hear you complaine about him , just like you do everything else!
Excuse me?? Are you implying that people are only voting for Obama because he has "dark skin"?? Last I checked, african americans weren't the majority in the USA, but Obama has majority vote so far. You say we know nothing of Obama's background or history, however it is all well documented.
As for doing drugs, perhaps you should research McCain's wife, Cindy. It is ignorant people such as yourself who don't know the facts that caused someone like Bush to be in office for 8 years and allowed him to run our economy into the ground.
Go ahead and preach the whole "God Bless America" and military service position. Last I checked some of those crazy murders who go on shooting sprees served our country too, so they must be wonderful upstanding citizens.
Go back to your KKK meeting.
melody, I have to say that's the most hateful thing I've ever read. You're the republican "base" we've heard so much about. A racist named melody. It takes all kinds. Please don't procreate. Please.
wow, melodymoore - you are right on one point and one point only. McCain has served his country and obviously loves his country. He made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam and he is true hero and an asset to the US. That alone, however, does not make him right to serve as our President.
As for the rest of your comments about Obama supports being Young Jaw Flappers who don't know what they're doing...only voting for him because he's African American...well, if those comments aren't what's fundamentally wrong with our country and why we're so socially, morally and financially in the hole right now, I don't know what is. You should be ashamed of yourself.
melody - it is because of people like you that racism still exists in this country - as for what the preacher said, it is my belief that according to our constitution we have a right to freedom of speech, just because you (and I) don't like what this preacher said does not mean that he cannot and should not state what he believes. I am sure that there are lots of times that you sit and listen to people spew racists attitudes and beliefs and think that is just fine but if you were ever to be called on it, you would run and hide under the first rock, because racists don't like to be seen in the light of day...... As for who is doing drugs, I thought that was Mrs. McCain, the second one, the one who had an affair with John McCain when he was still married to his first wife, the one who was handicapped, the one that John left for a rich young woman.
melodymoore:
Hey, Sarah uses a tanning bed because she wants so desperately to have dark skin. hmmmmmmmmm. Senator Obama is NOT muslim, he is Christian, he has been SERVING the American public his entire life since he graduated from college......and if you want to know about his life just go to Wikopedia...start there, unless doing your homework is too much work for you. People slam Senator McCain because he gives them the ammunition to do so. You, like Senator McCain, are seething with anger, and fear and paranoia.........why are you so affraid? Are you affraid because Senator McCain has lead you to believe that Senator Obama is anything other than an American born Christian who has served the American public admirably his entire career? Look up Senator McCain's involvement in the KEATING FIVE...........you will see what kind of corruption Senator McCain comes from.....look up Senator McCain's involvement in ACORN....look up Senator McCain's involvement in the 26 years he served in the Senate when it comes DEregulation. Do some research..............it is all there, you just have to open your eyes and look. I am NOT young............and I have endured Republicans for 8 years and there is nothing I will cherish more than watching them finally vacate the White House.....Senator McCain adopted the typical Republican moves and he is deserving of the lack of approval he has received....not a maverick, just another Republican and it would seem that Americans are so done with Republicans---at least until the Democrats fix this mess and they will maybe get back in there and screw it all up again. You didn't think that the Democrats were in power in the White House and the Senate for 6 years did you? Yes the Democrats held the majority in the Senate but, Republican President George Bush always preempted any vote the Democrats were trying to get with "and if it comes across my desk I WILL VETO IT"............stalemate. Don't worry, President Obama will take care of you even if you are a Republican.
TO:MELODYMOORE - Your comments are unsubstantiated - I wouldn't vote for McCain if my life depended on it - I have read much of what has been said here and agree with most of it. Additionally, if you understand the statistics of Vietnam Vets and their life expectancy he has one foot in the grave, and Palin certainly does not have the experience to run our country! Maybe Obama isn't the best choice either but for me it is the lesser of two evils - so to speak - frankly in my opinion that is what every presidential election seems to be! However, this time around I think is one of the most important elections of our time and I won't put a has-been "same old, same old, crony" like McCain in that office! America DOES need change and hopefully Obama/Biden will bring the change we need - REGARDLESS OF THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN!!!
FYI - I am a 48 year old WHITE mom of a 24 year old son who has been serving YOUR country in the USAF for 6 years!
Melody - people like you are scary. Your ignorance and lack of understanding astounds me. I don't vote for President based on the color of someone's skin. I vote based on what a person brings to the position. Senator McCain served his country. He was shot down over Vietnam because he didn't abort his mission when he could've. My dad served in Vietnam, but I wouldn't vote for him for President just because he's a veteran. I honor and respect veterans - but not hatred. McCain has allowed his supporters to incite violence and hatred. The likes of which have not been seen since the 60's. It scares me that people like you are voting. It is because of the constitution that people like you are allowed to vote and wear your white hoods. I hope you believe in God and ask for his forgiveness because you need it.
melodymoore-All I can say is WOW are you the most ignorant person I have ever read! After 8 years of the WORST President EVER, you want four more years of a man who got shot down in a war that we didn't belong in in the first place, then pleaded with his captors to tell his wife that he loved her, then came back and saw his soon to be new "trophy" wife, left his wife for her. Now after he thinks that we are the "savior of the Muslim world and can spout our political views in a country that has been Muslim for more years than we have been a country is just stupid. All of you so callled "patriots" need to wake up and relize that we can only return this country to the glory of its time is by tolerance and diplomacy not war and ignorance!!!
melodymoore-All I can say is WOW!! You are the most ignorant person I have ever read. Please come out of your delusional coma before it is too late for you. You must be the most miserably unhappy person!
Ms. Moore, your comments underscore the sheer ignorance and blind faith by which McCain/Palin supporters live and die. Barak Obama is not Muslim, nor is he a terrorist. (By the way, these two descriptors are not mutually inclusive.) John McCain did serve our country, and good for him, but that does not mean that does not unequivocally qualify him to lead our nation, nor does it make him a "good person". He has flip-flopped on critical issues time and time again and doesn't seem to be able to tell us what he will do were he elected. I would just once like to hear him lay out his plans for our economy without slamming his opponent. I don't need to hear his opinions on Sen. Obama to understand his plans for our economy. Unfortunately, it's still not clear what he would do were he elected to the presidency, as he spends the bulk of his time slandering Sen. Obama.
The comment he made regarding allowing military veterans to teach school "without additional schooling" is truly frightening. Please don't get me wrong - I respect and thank God for each and every solider serving our country. This does not mean that every one of them is qualified to teach my son what he needs to learn to excel academically. To make such a blanket statement is indicative of Sen. McCain's true lack of understanding around what the American people really need and want; a leader who truly connects and understands what we ("main street, America") go through on a daily basis and what will TRULY help us realize the "American dream" to which he so often refers. John McCain has never had to make the choice on whether to pay the electric bill or buy enough gas to get himself to and from work until the next payday - or whether or not he can afford nutritious food for his family as opposed to living off raman noodles and powdered milk. Barak Obama understands these troubles, thus is more likely to make wise choices for those of us who struggle with them daily.
On that note, I ask you one final question - what if backgrounds were reversed? How would you feel about Sen. McCain then?
Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: what if things were switched around? Would the country's collective point of view be different?
Ponder the following:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including
a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his
standards?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Education isn't everything & there is no doubt that experience can get you to high places, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world. You make the call.
To all the posters above who replied to the ignorant, irrational post of melodymoore, Thank You. It seems that our voices have been drowned out for far too long by rightwing racial bigotry, religious intolerance and false patriotism. We are recognizing in Barack Obama's campaign for America's highest office an opportunity to regain something miraculous -- for ourselves, our country and the world -- Hope. It is an amazing thing.
McCain most definitely knows the difference between Autism and Down Syndrome, he was discussing the challenges faced by families with children with special needs!
As for Obama, look at his record in Illinois, their crime rate, schools, and taxes are some of the worst in the country and he wants to change the United States! No Thank You!
Melodymoore, I almost feel sorry for you, but then I feel a lot sorrier for all the other decent, tolerant, educated and informed people who have to share being an American with you. It is Americans like you: derogatory, racist, warmongers, narrow-minded, uneducated, pedantic and uninformed that give Americans the very bad image we have all over the world. Perhaps you did not get a very good education, perhaps you have not had the chance to be informed, perhaps that is what you have been taught and now you are scared because there are other better things people believe in, but you are so used to believing in the same old bigotry that it you have to be rude, insulting and not at all American in spirit, because you have no more intelligent arguments to make.
Honey, if you can't say something that can be supported by facts, then don't say anything. If all you can muster out of your mouth is a fetid vomit of hatred and contempt for other people who might have a different life philosophy, then please save yourself from the shame of not deserving the privilege of being called an American, because an American is that person that is responsible and accountable and knows he/she relinquishes and does not deserve his/her right to free speech when his/her words insult, disrespect, threaten and malign other people. Your rights and freedoms cannot ever ever trespass the rights and freedoms of other people.
McCain I am sure has many good qualities. But since he prefers to abuse his right of free speech to insult, malign and be condescending to his opponent Senator Obama, then we really do not know if Senator McCain is truly capable, since he does not seem to believe that people care about his capabilities other than being able to engage in the same old unoriginal and uncreative slander politics, and that he was able to yield a firearm in combat in someone else's country. Perhaps that is enough credentials for you, but it most certainly not enough for me and for the future of my children.
I am so proud of the posts that I have been reading! This election seems to have awaken many people. Melody Moore is an idiot. Easy enough to see that. I just can't see why some people are having a hard time seeing the quality of person that Obama is when I see it so clearly. It is exciting to have a man like him running for president!!!
Amen, he is such an idiot to be speaking on National TV and calling Pailin's son's syndrom the wrong thing. He did it twice, he should learn to listen to people and to shake hands with the poor americans who have down syndrome. She has only been around this 6 months, Pailin is not a pro at this just because she gave birth of that sweet little boy. She has a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng road ahead of her to raise that baby. Running this country is not what she needs to be doing right now, she needs to learn how to take care of her new son,,,,,,,
Joanne- I second TN0101's response to you. That was incredible. I really hope and think Obama might just win by a landslide. I decided a long time ago to vote Obama, but if I was undecided, your response would have just made up my mind.
Joann, I applaud you! I am so proud that someone is able to put what so many of us would like to say into words we can all understand. All of us who can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel are grateful!
McCain's eye blinking showed his nervousness and agitation. He is certainly a good man but he is not presidential material.
Yes! I don't think McCain is a bad man, at all. He just hasn't shown me he can be the president we need. And, I shudder to think what would happen if Palin ever needed to step up.
Obama is better suited to get us out of our mess.
Ms. Moore-

I Do consider myself young, at 52 years old. That is immaterial anyway. What is at issue here, is the disgusting post you made. You are so full of hate. Not to mention blind ignorance. Perhaps that's not your fault. Perhaps your parents were very ignorant, as well, and they passed their unfortunate ignorance onto you. You should make every effort, at your advanced age, while you still have time, to educate yourself. The fact is, all of your opinions stem from gross racism. You are simply angry because Obama is Aftrican American. You would not be posting any of this nonsense if he were of white. Or pink. You just don't like any color darker than white. End of story for you. Hence, your frightening ignorance. Embarrassing, isn't is? You can't bear the idea of an African American family living in the White House. That just irks the be-jeebers out of you. Start reading about the fabulous African Americans whom have shaped our country, Ms. Moore. Get your old self an education, and make a friend with at least one African American in this world. You will be shocked to learn that African Americans are NO DIFFERENT THAN YOU. I know that pisses you off, too. It is probably too late for the likes of you, but I hope not. Open your mind. You are missing out on a whole world of of wonderful people from other cultures. Such a sad waste. I'm white, by the way. I was raised differently than you were, obviously. I never heard a racial slur in my home. My parents were open minded, educated, middle class military people. Please, open your mind before you lose your chance. Your hatred is probably going to kill you early.
Marty - agree 100%. He blinked and blinked and blinked. I was for McCain - no more. Not too much for Obama though. One thing bothers me most. Obama being in Wright's church for 20 years. I belonged to a similar type church. There are a lot of amens and halalulahs. The teachings are strong and you absorb them. I never got to absorbing the hands on the forehead and the person falling down though. I did take on some of the other teachings. I loved God so very much because of this pastor. Only Christian music, laying hands on sick ones, etc. If Wright talked the good things - amen. He may not have.
McCain is one of the good old boys he says he opposes. Sarah literally wears ruby slippers (Time Magazine; Oct 12, 08; page 64). This isn't Oz! It's the real world. A point McCain and Sarah fail to understand.
Sarah is a perfect Example of the "No Student Left Behind" prgram "gosh darn it, i truly learned my three R's, Read'n, Write'n and Recite'n.
John McCain never looked older or maybe more feeble. I never thought age was an issue. I do now.
Yes, I do believe the campaigning has begun to take a toll on McCain. That only prompts the question as to how he would be able to maintain the stamina to be President. Don't think he could.
WOW Ol "Shakey" McCain looked desperate. I saw panic and animosity on the old guy. We need that steady, even tempered style of Barack Obama. I think McSHAKE needs to see a good optometrist, he was blinking soo profusely, was he sending McMORSE code to Scare-A Palin?
McCain is just another Bush failed policy with no future.. Obama / Biden 08 for me
Wayne, I can't get a job, Bush saw to that!! No jobs to be had. Very high unemployment rate. Or haven't you been reading the paper?
