What do you think of Obama's selection of evangelical pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at Tuesday's inaugural?

Warren said he doesn't have any thing against Gay marriage, it is Divorce that is the problem. He is afraid that, because of the History of Gays in America (i.e. sleeping around/multiple sex parters or serial monogamous relationships) we as Gay people are not responsible enough to handle Marriage. If this is the case, he should look at the root cause of this behavior, which is the murders, violence and hate crimes that plaque our community. This includes hate from the Church community with a lot of intolerance of the Gay community. That is why the Gay community see this as an affront, because you love us in the dark and are not trying to lift us up in equality.

Good heavens, Warren was a disapointment. What the right good reverand Warren has against Gays and Lesbians doesn't sound any different than what plagues the hetrosexual community, so why does Warren make that difference. DUH! Talking out of both sides of his mouth. His is a waffle-mouth, not mighty mouth. Seems he took a credibility dump, big time.
I find it a bit ODD that gays and lesbians seem to confuse the issue of faith. A Christian has freedoms too, to state their religious beliefs... A Christian does not hate the person, but they do hate the sin. YES I said SIN... for in a Christians beliefs, being gay or lesbian is a sin. I know you will just call me a bigot and a Bible thumper, yet I have done nothing but express my ideas. Have a great day....
The guy people are not equal to normal people they are an abomination to God. One day they will have a place in hell. Someone needs to let them know this. Start reading the Bible and find out for yourself.
This is a day that has rocked the world. What we can learn from this that this is what God wanted and the time has come for all of us to accept this as thy will. Nothing in life can happen without the power of God behind the scene.

Our self respect demands that we stand up and speak out against this choice. Its one thing to listen to various views and perspectives; its quite another to another this bigoted view by giving him such an esteemed spot on a great day in American history.

Tolerance means that we respect the other's rights to have his views. Nothing more, nothing less. If I disagree with you on a point, I do not need to "accept" you in the sense of embracing your views as my own views. It means that I can differ with you and still respect your right to feel the way you do. You can stand up and speak your mind. What you can not do is impose your belief system on me or any one else.
Of course he could not have an unbeliever like me do the invocation. We don't talk to imaginary friends...
Awesome! "IN GOD WE TRUST". We are praying for Rick and that his words will be God's words; specifically, that Jesus is God's Son! Also praying in all respects for our President (protection, wisdom, provision, effectiveness, truth...I say "TRUTH", protection of the innocent, and for his family, for our troops (safety and effectiveness), and all our leaders!

Apparently hes got a lot of radical views on a wide variety of issues. A radical view is what allowed Barack Obama to become our nations first black (African/American) President. Rick Warren's views are objectionable not only to gays, but to Americans who find Christian Fundamentalism a dangerous, destructive, and hateful philosophy. It should not be given a platform at the Inauguration of a President who offers hope, understanding, and unity.

Also, the separation of church and state does not limit the individual right to practice their beliefs. It means the state may not promote any one religion over another.
and while we are at it can I ask the government to begin cracking down on these wild men who use the tax exemption given to religious groups as a political platform for raising money and infecting "their" narrow bigoted views on the body politic.

I agree with Jonny. Rev. Warren or not, why a christian prayer at a political ceremony? If we are trying to remove barriers of race, why not barriers of religion? Or is America a Christian nation? I believe the President has a right to his own religious belief but why make the whole nation say a christian prayer for him? Couldn't that be done in private?
Because he is the President and 87% of us believe in God and prayer. Therefore the other 13% needs to sit down and shut up. If it bothers you turn it off. When you are sworn in a President you can have and do as you wish. Don't we have bigger problems to deal with. Get a grip people.

Founding fathers stated that we have inalianable rights from God. Rick Warren represents this beliefs. He uses the unchanginc Bible for reference, not what is easy or socaibly acceptable. Without God there is no accountablity and that is partly why our world is a mess! Thank you Rick Warren for reflecting truth. You are totally misinformed about History, or trying to re-write it... The words "So help me God" were not part of the original pledge, but added much later. Same for "In God we trust". The country was not founded on biblical thruths. Did you ever read the Constitution? How can you support your claims? Did you ever read the Bible?

I hope that I did miss a rabbi's name but if I didn't, it's one of the worst slip ups ever at an inaugural. You'd think Diane Feinstein would have picked it up with all her notes that she must have read.
